It kinda snuck up on me this year, but the Ride For Kids Houston is coming up in a week and a half. April 27, Humble Civic Center (same place as the last few years). http://pbtf.convio.net/site/TR?fr_id=1562&pg=entry#.U06aABC9Z8EIt's always a good time. They find a nice route around the area, and have a good showing of bikes, followed by a lunch and program after the ride. Who's up for going? Mark

Hey, Mark. I'm planning on coming down for the ride. I see Jimmy has started a team under Houston Area Valkyrie Riders so we can register on the team.
Jimmy, can you let us know what the password is to join the team?
Look forward to seeing you guys. I may not get in until Sunday morning this year, but if that changes to Saturday, I'll let you know. Dinner Saturday has always been good fun.
I forgot to mention for the folks who are new to Ride for Kids that this is about helping kids with brain cancer. It's a great cause.
As a side benefit, for those donating or raising online donations from others of at least $100 in advance of the ride weekend, you get a chance to win a new Goldwing. In fact, if you use the email tool on the site after you register, for every $300 in donations, you get another ticket in the drawing for the Goldwing, a new tire and some other goodies. Nobody donates and goes just to win the bike, but walking away with a certificate for a new Goldwing wouldn't hurt either.

Sorry about that! I tried to "Bring Back" the Texas Valkyrie Riders Cruiser Club, but could not. I started a club called the Houston Area Valkyrie Riders. The password to join is VRCCHouston. I signed up and made an initial donation. Looking forward to it! Hay Jimmyt

Looks like I'll be coming down Saturday and staying at the host hotel on the north side. If anyone is up for dinner on Saturday, post up or shoot me an email.
For those who haven't registered yet, here's the link. Go to Register and search for Teams to find the Valkyrie team and join up. If you get $100 in donations online before this weekend, you'll qualify for the drawing for the Goldwing.
Also, don't forget to select a club and dealer to credit for your donations. You'll see it in the registration process.
Should be a great showing Sunday for the Houston region Valk riders. Ask Jimmy or Eli or Mark about what a great event it is for these kids you'll be helping.
See you there.

Here's a short video by a Texan you'll recognize. You never can tell when he or one of the other local celebs will show up at RFK, but sometimes in cognito and in the background. http://youtu.be/KdiRl9itxn4

The first time I participated in the Ride for Kids fundraiser, I was not all familiar with its purpose, only that there would be a huge number of bikes and a police escorted ride. I was impressed by the number of bikes, but the biggest impression on me was hearing from the children and from the parents of the Children who had suffered brain tumors. I can't say everything I would like to say about this event, but these Children, from the youngest to the oldest, derserve a better chance at life. What I can afford goes toward helping them at that better chance. I join in the effort in Houston and Dallas, you should too, it's fun and intertaining. As a side note, it was at my first R4K's that I first met the VRCC members from Houston, Mark and Stephanie, Jimmy and Ms BJ, Phyllis, Duane, and the Northerners, Gary, Dave (Disco), Jeff, and others I can't remember. I saw many valkyries, and was invited to join the Houston group by Mark (Rocketman). So as you can see, you not only get to help some very deserving Children, but you get to meet some of the best people to grace the seat of a Valkyrie.
Ride Safely.

If you are riding and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

Great seeing the valks out today. I didn't get a final count, but counted 10 'classic' valks and one new one on the grounds about 30 minutes before the ride. Could have been more by the time we left. Thanks for coming out to help these kids. More and more success stories happening because of your donations. I had the privilege of taking a 5 year old patient on his first ride today - priceless. Spoke to another 'star' who is now rebuilding his first motorcycle and he plans to ride it at next year's event. Cool stuff.
for those who didn't make it, come up to Ft Worth and ride the race track with us at the DFW Ride for Kids in October.
