Just finished riding back in the rain without the lights.

I'm think it's a fuse but I'm not sure. I have directionals, brake lights, horn, radio, speedometer.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm on a hotel computer so I will check back later.

There are 2 fuses related to the headlights on the schematic:

-5Amp fuse for relay control and 15 amp fuse for headlights, the 5 amp is fed from the start switch and the 15 amp is fed from the protected side of the 55 amp main fuse and alternator.

you could supply voltage to the 5 amp from any source with a jumper (battery positive e.g.) and see if the lights come on to verify relay and bulb circuits etc.  If they do then there is likely a problem at the start switch.

here is a link to the manual on Dag's site, technical section on left hand side of page:

here are Chet's schematics:

I did the normal maintenance to the starter button (take it apart, clean and dielectic grease it) about 6 months ago.

I'lll check the fuses in the morning if it ever stops raining up here in Augusta, ME

It's H$ll when this happens in the pouring rain a couple of huundred miles from home.

Thanks for the help

I know this defies logic, but several times when this has been reported in the past, both bulbs were bad.

I was hoping that he had tried them on both hi and low ....

A continuity tester is a handy thing in the travel tool kit.

I'd look at the fuse first, the bulbs second, and the circuit last (in the circuit, a weak point is the starter switch), as those priorities take into account probability of failure as well as ease of checking (ie, check the easy stuff first).  As RP says, bulbs often go out together, as they usually have the same age on them, and they may have been taken out by a voltage surge.  Just recently I lost both 50watt spots and my low beam within one day, on my standard.
