HONDA VALKYRIE Before I took my Valkyrie to the shop for tire change I ordered steel valve stems from Jake Wilson (thanks for the tip VRCC) I also ordered a valve stem driver ; http://www.jakewilson.com/p/1753/13463/Slime-4-Way-ToolAfter getting the bike home I checked the valve stem front and back to check for tightness with the tool and both stems easily took another 1/3 turn before seating firmly. Just a heads up .. w

At least you got the Jake Wilsons that you can adjust from the OUTSIDE of the rim. The first ones I installed had the nuts on the inside.... Good info! Hay Jimmyt

Jimmyt did you put on or attempt to put the plastic stem keepers on? Mine are off , see no need for them...

I would say you two are talking about two different things here.
The way I read the original post was that the valve stem valve (little insert into the valve stem) was loose by 1/3 turn. This is supported by the indicated tool. I am hoping that the valve stem nut wasn't loose by 1/3 turn...that would mean the shop had a hell of a time getting air in the tire...
Agreed on the supports...mine are off my bike. The new stem does not need them.

Yes, judging by the tool pictured in the link he was talking about the valve CORE, not the stem.

No, I don't have the "supports" on my 90 degree valve stems. They are so solid that they are not needed. Hay Jimmyt

What is the part number used for valve stem. I purchased metal stem but they tighten from the inside and new tire will be mounted in a couple weeks and the idea of having access to checking the tightness is more than a bit interesting. Michael
