Getting ready to do my trigger wheel mod later this evening or the weekend. I have been reading some of the posts related to this mod and also issues a few members have experienced after doing this mod. Most of the issues relate to starting problems (cold weather) and stem from installing an after market TW.

I did end up ordering an after market TW. So my question - do I use this or should I just file off the OEM TW? If it's the latter, what is the best way to go about modding the oem TW? As usual, appreciate all your input.

TIA.

When I did mine a machinist buddy did the filing.  All I wanted was to borrow his little mic so to get it exact.  Well, he is a biker too and was really interested in what I was doing and he ended up doing all the filing.
I forgot how much I told him to take off (I wanted it to be 4o) but he'd file, measure, file, etc... until it got there.
He just used a small file and it took every bit of about 5 minutes.

Make sure you position the TW correctly to where it will advance, I think turn it counterclockwise to butt the "modified" tang against the crank when your looking at the front of the bike (although it's been sometime since I've done mine).

Good luck.

Off the line is improved ever so slightly.

Top end is reduced probably 10% range.

Gas mileage is improved a few mpg's.

Can cause premium gas to be needed.

Update...I have decided to not to go with a TW mod, rather doing an ECT mod with a pot!

Potentiometer

I skipped using the pot and went with a simple ECT mod. Also used a 1k Ohm resistor instead of a 3.9k.
