There are a few of us planning to ride down to Inzane from NY, NJ, PA, etc on Saturday June 7

We are currently thinking of riding down on Saturday morning. So far looks like GMan, NJF6Cowboy, OSS?, AndyM ....Hoping Big D and Little D want to join us.....

We are planning to take 81 down, possibly thru PA to avoid NJ traffic? Thinking we could maybe meet near Cabelas in Hamburg but it depends on where everyone is coming from. Thining we would crash around Roanoke and stay the night at a cabin, etc. or maybe go a bit further toward the start of the Blue Ridge and stay the evening. There are several of us who want to ride the Blue Ridge all the way down to Asheville (bucket list trip for me).

If you are interested in joining us, let me know via reply to this post or email me at Dragonridernj@aol.com

Andy, the start of the BRP is very near Waynesboro VA (close to 81 South).   Roanoke VA is another 97 miles (1.5hrs) down 81, SW of Waynesboro (also close to get on the BRP).

I am planning to make the BRP all the way to Ashville on Sunday (unless it is nonstop rain, then I may hump 81 down).  I do not know the halfway point for you guys, but if you stay at the Days Inn in Waynesboro VA (where all our past Meet-in-the-Middle, northern route rides start), I can be at the motel early Sun morning and join with you guys over to BRP for the ride South.  That motel is clean and cheap.

Not asking you to change plans for me.  Just pointing out the start of the BRP (bucket list).

Got a gig Saturday night. Gonna do the "iron butt" run on Sunday and try to make it all the way. My mapquest suggests going over to Erie PA and down I-79.

I'll be at the Days Inn June 6 Friday late  after riding down from work. Saturday I plan on local riding west of Rt 81. I'll be back at Days Inn for Saturday evening, hopefully we can all have dinner together. Kick stands up at 9:00 am sounds good. I'm thinking it will be a long ride on the BRP to Asheville.

Looking forward to meeting you.

I am thinking about going down from NY. Not sure yet because I do not have any room reservations and was also  wondering if anyone has one that they are looking to share to keep the costs down.  I could either leave Friday after work or Saturday.

I am also looking for a receiver hitch for my interstate with saddlebag rails if anybody knows of one that is available. You can let me know through a reply to this post or by email myvalkyrieinterstate@gmail.com

Ride Safe!

Thought I would post once more and see if anyone wants to ride down with me to Waynesboro VA on Saturday morning . Im in Aberdeen , NJ .
I plan on riding a bit north to rt 78 west in NJ and taking that out toward Harrisburg then onto Rt 81

Looks to be 6 hours of riding and Im guessing about 7-8 with gas and restroom stops

That route should avoid horror of traffic near Philly, Baltimore, DC , etc

End to End on the Blueridge Parkway is a lot of fun.  We rode it last year from Waynesboro to Cherokee.  Interstate 81 is one my Least favorite roads to ride in Virginia on a bike.  Lots of trucks.  If you are coming into Virginia a little further north of Waynesboro, Skyline drive is a real nice ride too and when it ends the Blueridge parkway starts.  Speed limit on Skyline drive is lower though being 35mph the last time I rode it.  Blueridge Parkway is 45mph for most of the route.  Hotels get a little limited south of Roanoke.  You might want to call ahead.  We ended up staying right off the Roanoke exit because most of the lodging south was booked during our trip.

Andy that is your best (straight shot) route to avoid the terrible I-95 Eastern corridor full-combat ride.

I-81S can be busy with 18 wheelers in both lanes for miles, but usually worse well downstate VA than farther North where you will be.  It may be a bit crowded, but it is always moving pretty good. The VA State Troopers specialize in sitting just below (the many) rolling hill crests in the Southbound lanes, and catching folks sprinting around trucks slowing down going up the grades.  Exits are reasonably numerous with gas and food right off the off-ramp.  If you cannot see a service station from the freeway, skip that exit until you do.

See you in Waynesboro.  I will ride back roads down and probably be there mid afternoon (though will go early or late to avoid any liquid sunshine, since it's just an easy few hours for me). (You have rain gear, yes?)

Watch your topknot.

This looks great!!!  Looks like a couple of places to grab a nice steak for dinner and good breakfast in the morning.

Looking forward to this ride!  Only thing left to do is an earl change and a quick detail on the Valkyrie and I'm set.
