Author Topic: Different Look Honda Rear Brake Pad ?  (Read 718 times)

Took my old rear pads out and cut open the new Honda pads, but they were different.  The have a white liner on top of the backside of the  pad, then a stainless steel cover over the top of that, has anyone else seen this?  They slip right off, they are kind of friction fit on with some retainers.  The problem is the additional material between the 2 new pads almost equals the thickness of one of the old pads which then makes for not enough room.  If I take all of the extras off they look like the original pads and they will fit no problem.  Is this a problem to take off the extras and install what is left?

Thanks-
Scooby

Pictures? I just replaced mine less than a month ago and the pads were like the originals.

I've used them before. I think they are for an Interstate or rear wheel but not sure.Someone will let us know.

What part number are on the new pads?
Like someone else said, could be Interstate pads.  Mine have that stainless plate on the back.  I think it keeps them from squeaking..  ?

Part number off of the package for the Honda rear pads is:06435-MZO-006.  If they are for a Interstate can I use them?  I took the "extras" off and they slid right in, and they seem to work fine.

Thanks again-

That insulation layer and stainless plate are there for a reason.

The reason being to prevent heat transfer to the caliper.

It is possible to boil the brake fluid in the rear brake.
