The clutch slave cylinder started leaking a couple of months ago, then stopped after a couple of days. At the time I purchased the seals for the rebuild, but did not do it at the time as it gave me no futrther trouble. Yesterday, I pulled it off and cleaned up and replaced the seals. I just posted this as I had never seen such a mess in a cylinder. Apparently there is some interaction between DOT 4 and something,, the grease that was used on the pushrod??,, as the whole thing was filled with crystallized fluid,, I don't see how it sealed back up...??? The picture did not come out focused, but you can get an idea.

I wiped these pieces down before I thought to get a picture, but they looked almost as bad as the first picture when I pulled it apart.  That mess does clean up fairly easily with lacquer reducer.

Clean everything up, install new seals, assemble and bleed the system and back in business and will not need to think about the clutch for a few years.

I wonder, is this what the brake calipers look like when you take them apart??

I did not take any pictures, but the front calipers were clean when I did mine. Other than old fluid that needed to be replaced, no foreign matter.

Well that's a relief,, I'd hate to think my calipers looked like that slave cylinder,, not sure what goes on in there.

Hmmm,,,  I wonder if that snot is the result of DOT4 and water??  It's like a chemistry lab inside those cylinders.

My guess is that I was the first person to ever look in there after Mr. Honda
sealed it up in Ohio. The picture is probably from 2010.
