Shoulder problems make my hands go numb if I have to keep them in one position more than a few minutes. My bike came with a throttle lock but I wanted a true cruise control as I wanted to maintain a constant and legal speed. It's easy for me to speed on the highway because the bike is so smooth. Got it installed, but man there is a lot of stuff under that gas tank and even more after installation. My first time taking off the air box and getting it back on as well. Just for kicks I got to do it twice when I got the throttle cables confused and ran the wrong one to their interface unit the first time. It worked but the throttle operated backwards Had to twist it forward to increase engine RPM. Decided that wasn't a good thing. In my defense I think the instructions could have been more clear about which cable to use. Holds speed +- 1 or 2 mph regardless of terrain. Has all the features of an auto cruise control. Turns off with either brake or the clutch by detecting sudden engine RPM increase. It's the one from New Zealand. http://www.mccruise.com/collections/honda/products/8 but I picked it up used on ebay. Don't know if the instructions I got were original or copies but the quality of the pictures showing details were not good. Tried to download a PDF from the manufacturer for better pictures but their site says they no longer do that. Other than that, and the item about the cable to interface unit, the instructions were okay. The one thing I don't like is that the LED that shows power/status isn't bright enough to see in full daylight. They do make note of that in the instructions. Other than that it works great and this model was several years old so they may have remedied the LED problem on newer models. I did email the company with a question and received a prompt answer. I think they did a nifty job of engineering the device and location of the components. Only thing that had to be moved was the Par Valve and that only an inch or so. I almost decided to desmog the bike so I wouldn't have to mess with that but decided it would be better just to do one thing at a time. Pricey new, but I give it a

I think that VRCC member TERMITE is a contact for that kind of cruise control, I don't know how frequently he logs on to see his messages, but maybe he can help...

I have had my New Zealand CC since MGM was a baby.
You must have a reproduction of the instructions. My pictures were excellent, and the printing was sharp.
I don't remember having to move the par valve. I put it on one winter day in 98, right after Christmas of 97. It took like 30 minutes to do by myself.
Then I put on my trailer hitch and that took a lot longer. Found out then ya don't take all 4 bolts out of the fender at once. Had to get the wife, my youngest daughter and my son to help get it back together. Had a bolt each one of us was responsible to get it started. God that brings back harsh memories.
You will really like that unit. Mine has over 200K on it and still holds + or - 1 to 2 MPH. That was the best Christmas Present I ever received. The wife and kids all kicked in to get it for me. I had commented on it, and the youngest daughter took it and ran. God Bless her........

30 Minutes!!!!!! Took me two days! Pancho, I agree it's outrageous and I never would have paid that but like I said it popped up on eBay and I got it for about a third of the new price. I was going to return it to the seller as he had misrepresented it (unintentionally) but he made good by buying several new components from the manufacturer for me. you never know what you will find on eBay.

You do have to move the pair valve if the bike hasn't been desmogged. They include a longer hose to accomplish this in the installation kit. When I installed mine I did the desmog at the same time. It made for a much cleaner area between the carbs in which to work.

The Audiovox is much more of a DIY project. A bracket housing must be fashioned as an anchor for the cc cable. And the cc control must be waterproofed and a mount fashioned. I spent a few extra bucks to get a waterproof control for mine so I only had to fashion the cc cable clamp. I used a piece of bracketing that comes in the box to do my cable clamp and it was very easy to do. Overall the Audiovox (Murphy's Kit) is a great value and holds it's set point to perfection.

I used the Pingel dual button slimline switch for 1" handlebars. I posted a how to here: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,67396.msg657210.html#msg657210As far as I'm concerned it's the best if not the only good solution for an Interstate but will work on any model. Oh, and saying "a few extra bucks" can be disputed as I paid $125 for the Pingel switches but I'm still buck$ ahead of buying the MC Cruise.
