I have 10K of clean, fair weather riding on this one . I picked one up,  but got thinking pulling the tank is a small project, so maybe next year.

What do you do. How many miles, between air filter changes?

Fort Walton Beach, Florida I'm a simple man, I like pretty, dark haired woman and breakfast food.

Anytime I have the tank off....as I never know when I'm gonna have it off again.

I keep one on the shelf and wait for the tank to come off like BF posted. The owners manual says to do it at 12k. They can't cover all of the different conditions we drive or live in so they play it safe. If your bike starts running real rich the filter might be plugged Smiley but the dirt insn't getting in your carbs.

Most of my riding is dust free.  My OE filters can go two years no sweat (but my annual miles are split between two bikes, say 10-15K total).

The Valk airbox/filter is big, and I was sort of surprised the first time I discovered most of the dirt was in the top 2-3 inches of the element (or was it the bottom?).  Whichever, it occurs closest to the air intake.  The point is, there was still a lot of fairly clean looking element, after the dirty part.  Of course I changed it anyway.
