Ok I need a little advice... I took my carbs off yesterday and cleaned them all..( I was having a flooding issue) and when I took them apart to clean them I noticed that the "pilot Valves" that are on my bike are different than the ones in "D-rays" video.. He had to cut slots into his where mine were screws to begin with.. Because I purchased the bike used (from California) it seems that the previous owner had messed with the carbs before and the pilot valve settings were all over the clock. Some where 4 turns some 7, which by the way was almost backed all the way out!. Then Sillycon was used to prevent air leaks Im guessing... any how I reinstalled the pilots at the chart value of about 2 3/4 turns and now i have two cylinders popping at idle. This to me means "to lean" ... have talked to a knowledgeable bike mech. who told me that after about 3 to 4 turns the "pilots" are full open so to speak and there would be no adjustment at any higher number of turns. it also seems that I am starving a little for fuel... could that be a leak in the petcock vacuum line or is that either on or off???

Thanks

Did you replace the vacuum lines and caps? Install new intake O-rings? It may be lean due to vacuum leaks, and not the carbs. Also make sure the tubes from the air cleaner to the carbs are on, and ALL the clamps are snug. ( there are three for each carb). You may have to have the carbs balanced, especially if the pilots were so out of whack. Probably been sucking air somewhere since the PO had the bike. A can of starter fluid spray around the intakes and vacuum lines will help find a leak, with the bike running. Carefully!!! cooldude
