Her son and his former wife split the cost for their one daughter....who doesn't know she's getting it. My daughter and hubby were down about three wks. ago and used it to run to the beach at least three times and said it ran perfect. We did put some $$ in it before selling it, didn't want to unload it on anyone the way it was running. It had sat for nearly 18 mo. with the same gas in it....not good. When Rita's son expressed interest in it for his daughter, I was glad we spent the money. Rita hasn't driven a car in well over two years and barring a miracle, will never drive again. It's a '94 Lexus ES300, has 103k on it and runs like a top so the granddaughter should get plenty of use out of it. It was basically Rita's little car, but together we have many tens of thousands of miles in it together on trips all over. Lots of great memories for both of us, but as I said...it's a little emotional for Rita. It was her last vestige of independence and now it's gone, but it's still in the family. They gave us $2300 which is right at where Kelly Blue Book was.

Wow John, how many conversations have we had about this subject? I know how hard that must have been for her to give up the car. Had to do it with my Dad many years ago. Going to a good home for some family members to use now. Fitting some how.

That's a difficult decision to come to grips with.

Rita's granddaughter(Rachel) called today and was all excited over the car. She said last night when her mom got home she called to her in a rather stern voice, told her to get out here "right now."  So naturally she's wondering what in the world she had done for her mom to sound so upset...and walked outside. She saw the car and said "isn't that grandma's car?"  Her mom tossed her the keys and said "no honey, it's yours now." She went bonkers...laughing and crying all at the same time. To top it off, she drove it today to a job interview and got hired. Told Rita it was the best day she's had in a long time. Glad it went to a well deserving young lady but it seems kinda funny to not see it sitting in the driveway.

I wonder how many more bikes I can get in that garage space now. And I wonder how it would feel sleeping in the garage.  Grin

Just a year ago my now 93 year old Mother gave up on driving.  What finally convinced her to give it up was that her insurance premium had increased considerably.  I was kind of glad she made the decision.

I think one action can probably get you the answer to both of those questions John.

I'm Glad To Hear That Your Grand-Daughter Got To Acquire Rita's Car, At Least It's Still In The Family And Will Be Well Appreciated.
As Far As The Space In the Garage, You Might Better Sit On That Thought For A While, LOL !
