Carb synch Question

Hi new to Valkyrie site. Been looking on site since sept 2013. I have 1998 tourer model. My question is can I synch carbs with tank off and auxily tank hooked to feed it gas? How do I do this? does anyone know?

That's how I've always done it on my older Honda SOHC fours, because you need the tank off for access to the synch ports on the inside carbs. From what I've read this is not an issue on the Valk, which I have not yet synched, so you can leave the tank on. Am I right about this?

 You can sync with an auxiliary tank, but it won't give you any advantage. Search and study the tech forum and shop talk and you will become more familiar and comfortable with the procedure. Then ask these tech guys any follow ups.

you don't have to remove the tank. remove both of the chrome covers above the carbs (3 screws) unplug all but #6 vaccum lines from the backside of the intake tubes, (couple hoses and a few plugs)

if you are fortunate enough to have a 6 gauge bank hook the hoses to the nipples behind the intake tubes (a set of forceps work good) start the bike and balance the carbs, reverse the process and your done. I can do a set in 15 minutes.

why are you doing this ? virtually every valk I have done the carbs on didn't need it. are you doing this just for something to do ?

There is no reason to remove the fuel tank, as said. But, you can if you want to.

If the tank is off and it's convenient go for it. I done what you have described a number of times.

I'm going to leave tank on. I made a set of 6 gauges that I will be using. They all read real close to each other. so all is good. I thought maybe with tank off and I find a hose that might be bad then it's a easy replace.
