Hello All,

new guy here to the group, I ride a '98 Tourer

have any of you have made the switch from stock mirrors to some type w/ LED signals.

I've been considering these from Rivco;

http://www.rivcoproducts.com/products/product.php?productid=558&cat=434&page=1

but after a quick email to the company, I found out they are a fixed unit w/ no vertical adjustment.

I looked around the net to find pics and video but not too many good shots of them out there.

I like the concept of signals/running lights w/ the mirrors and these look like a nice set up and the lights are bright, but I like my mirrors elevated close to eye level not down and away which is where these seem to land, i'm very comfortable w/ the position of my stock mirrors. Kuryakyn has a similar product also but that too looks like a fixed unit.

Well anyway thanks for any input, thoughts or reviews of your own experience.

If you have questions about Rivco's merchandise, I'd suggest you talk to them...

They are good people, however, I've never used their mirrors, so I can't answer your question.

I had some after market turn signal mirrors and just couldn't get them to adjust to my liking....also had one snap off at the bolt while on a ride home from an Inzane gathering.....found over the years I much preferred the OEM mirrors without the turn signals but your opinion(s) may vary.  I could be wrong but I THOUGHT somebody made some aftermarket add-ons that attached to the OEM mirrors.  M'be Stitch from Grand Rapids could shake my memory a tad on this.

These might meet your needs. I like 'em and many others here have them as well. They're both turn signals and brake lights but no running lights unless, maybe you get creative with the wiring scheme.

I have never seen these before.  The web page is interesting.  Any pix or videos of these?  Do the brake lights shut down when the turn signals come on?

Hey Jersey Mike:
Welcome!! you're from Brick eh?? I'm from Red Bank way... funny I was just looking at Rivco's mirrors about an hour ago..small world! I like the idea of a mirror w/integrated turns and/or running lights. I was looking at this website which has different mirrors but I'm not sure I want to spend the $
http://www.chromeglow.com
BonS has recommended this site : http://www.2-bseen.com/

I just finished checking it out and while I like the price better..not sure if I like the style

Mike, I have the Mirrors like the ones you are looking at from Rivco. If you get them you better have an imagineation and machanical abilities. Their is no way they will look good without mods. I put mine on a sander and changed the angle of the base and redrilled, tapped holes and made an off set bracketabout 1 1/4" long. They are ok but still stick out a little further than I would like. I'm thinking of flipping the brkts. if you want me to send you a pict to your c phone then send a short text & I'll sent you a pict tomarrow. 7155775187Greg.

Hello all,

Thanks to hose who replied.

R J;

I did touch base w/ Rivco before I posted here and their response was:  "there are no vertical adjustments on the MIRLED but our mirrors are up higher and out further than most stock mirrors and they have a better field of view."  "We have sold the MIRLED & MIRLEDBK units to many Valkyrie riders."

BonS;

I saw those on the internet while I did research for LED turn signals and LED Mirrors, for the price they may be suitable, but I'm not sure if the style is what I'm looking for. When I emailed the company regarding if they were running lights too the response was:

"The lights have 3 wires 1. Ground 2. Signal 3. Brake.
Very simple, if your bike has running lights now and when you activate the signal it goes off/on you could tap into that wire, a little trail and error and you should be able to achieve running light's.
Others have asked that same question and  have used these lights.
I wish I could be more difinative.
Thank you for your interest in 2-Bseen"

BlackValkyrie;

we're probably about 40 minutes apart, hopefully we'll be able to get in touch this summer, not sure if I like the styles on the chromeglow website.

gregk;

I can't believe you went through all that trouble I hope they came out to your liking. I've been trying to come up w/ a different alternative for the Rivco's which is a riser of some sort that would simply raise the mirror about 1.5" - 2" but would still look presentable and be sturdy.

I guess for now I'll just wait a while, but if anyone else out there has info, comments or any thoughts please feel free to post them, any info is appreciated.

$249.99 for mirrors with lights is well over my budget.
Just how many riders can afford those?

I'm quite sure that you could come up with your own solution given enough thought. And making your own parts/modifications will be much more self satisfying.

NO the brake lights stay on (red) while the amber turn signal flashes amber.  Brake light visible from rear as red.  Amber turn signals visable from front and rear as amber.  I have these and live in Manchester, NH if you are in thee area you can swing by to check them out.

PS  riders who have been behind me during the day have stated they  are bight enough to be seen even on bright sunny day.

I have these mirrors on my Valk and HD.
They are the best I could find and  do have a wide field of view.
You will need to get a Rattlebars (colored) light schematic  for installation in the headlight. It actually wasn't much of a challenge to hook up.
I buy lots of accessories from Rivco and find them to be straight up and honest and have top quality accessories.
Good luck. I do not think you can go wrong with their mirrors.

Wobray,

I never questioned the quality of the rivco mirrors, just their position on the bars compared to the stock mirrors. I'm very comfortable w my stock mirrors and how they sit for me, they are at a good eye level for almost any position i ride in. The rivco mirrors (from photos I've seen) seem to sit lower and out more than stock.

If you would be able to post a pic of them on your bike I would appreciate it.

Thanks

The Rivco mirrors sit up to high and look dorky out to far. I was able to bring them in about 2 1/2" and they still are out to far.  A thought though here might just be the ticket. I looked at a kurakyn Cat tonight and they have a clamp if it is mounted ahead of the resaviors just may work without any mods. youd just have to run a bolt up through the clamp into the mirror stem. the clamp should be narrow and not as wide as a foot peg clamp.  look in the Accessory cat. for Goldwings, Metric, sportbikes.  Clamp is called a P-Clamp, or item # 4018.

I had a set of these installed on my fast black Valk' Tourer GL1500CT by Rivco's owner at Sturgis this year.  I love them.  Whether coming or going you are definitely more visible.  They are definitely have a lower and wider profile than [ugly] stock mirrors.

Front of mirror glows amber, flashes upon turn signal
Mirror (what you see) outer edge flashes red upon turn signal (no continuous glow)

For taller Valk' addicts, I can see where they may not be able to adjust vertically enough even though the mirror housings are on a ball/socket mount.  I'm all of 5'10" and the mirrors are adjusted all the way up.  No issues on lateral/horizontal adjustment.

Highly recommend them.
