Bikers don't need shrinks!

Copying Dave's note about Saturday's aviation adventure in Justin.

"One of the discussion points last night was the possibility of adding non-riding / non-eating activities to rides.  For example, the Antique Aircraft Associaton has a fly-in from 10:00am til 2:00pm at the Propwash Airport in Justin next Saturday 17 January.  Visitors Welcome.  http://www.flyincalendar.com/event_detail.cfm?e=8249&m=1&y=2009"
map of location  http://atlas.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?latlongtype=decimal&zoom=6&latitude=33.080678&longitude=-97.358889&name=16X

I'm up for that and plan to bring the kids.  If the weather is in the 30's, I may bring the cage.

Anyone else up for it?

Saturday will be warm - 37 for a low, 62 for a high. No problem for a stepper.

Sounds like a good riding day to me.

Dave, can you plan/lead the ride?  Set up a meeting point?

Thanks

I would love to commit to plan and lead this ride, but Janet and I are caging it to Austin on a trip that was postponed from this past weekend.  We'll finally be wrapping up holiday / end-of-year visits with family and friends.  It's partly Valkyrie-related - we'll be meeting up with Texas Deb & Laser Pat for fun and detailed 2009 riding discussions.  Topics will include Hot Glue's, Cheaha, EAA in Hondo, Wing Ding in Tulsa, InZane 9, and others.  I'm sure a couple of good rides (and calendar entries) will be, at least preliminarily, decided on.

If something unforeseen changes these plans, I'd be happy to lead.

FYI, here is a Propwash Airport map.  http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=33.080678%2C-97.358889&spn=0.0116,0.0116&q=33.080678%2C-97.358889%20(16X)

OK.  Here's the plan for Saturday:

As we have stated our membership is all over the place, we'll meet at I-35W and FM407, which is the Corral City Exit (north of the Texas Motor Speedway, South of Denton).  Looks like there is a gas station or such there on the southwest corner.  Meet at 10:00am, KSU at 10:30am to ride over to the airport and hopefully watch some of the planes come in, kick some tires (well, carefully since they are antique planes).  Around 1:00 (or sooner if we get hungry) trail back into Justin and go to Mom's Cafe for some good home cooking

Sounds like a plan. Yes, there is a big gas station there that we have stopped at before on a couple of rides.  Depending on weather, I may be in a cage with the kids, but we're definitely planning on going.

Hey, I'm a new guy.  I ride a 2000 Interstate and live in Coppell.  Had my bike about 1 year and am looking for some guys to ride with.  I look forward to meeting some new riders tomorrow at 10:00 am.

Cool, Jeff. See you tomorrow.

Looks like I'll be in a cage with the family in tow, but will look for you and the crew at the meet up point at 407 and 35

Remember Scott and "Lily"? At one time he had two Valks. Now, he is more into planes and lives at the air field you will be visiting. Say hey for me if you do run into him. ~Jeff

It was a great day for a ride.  The weather was perfect, we road some nice roads, saw some antique airplanes and military vehicles, and had some great food.  Thanks Rainmake I had a great time.  I took some pictures and you can viw them at the following links:

Thanks for posting the pics, Baron.  Good to meet Wayne, Jennifer and Jeff out there.  The family had a good time, even though we were on/in a different kind of Honda.  Very cool watching that old helicopter land in the yard.

Yep, Dave. Hope Austin was good, too. Thanks for putting us on the trail of this fly in.  Let's be thinking towards Hondo, too!

Yep, that was cool having the helicopter land by the Valks.  We will have to do this again.  I spoke to some of the members and they do a Fly In once a month.  I was also told they have a big Fly In in Gainsville with near 200 planes.
