hello all
I am currently still in process of rebuilding my valkyrie. Promise an update with photos soon.  laugh
I have turned my attention to the front end of the bike. For those who dont know, my bike was in a descent crash, hence the restore, and the handle bars took some impact and the front fairing was destroyed. no damage to the front fender or tire, everything still spins nice. What I am seeing is from the leading edge of the tripletree top plate, (the bars i know are out because the risers are bend) the wheel seems to be a few degrees out of square. say like 5 degrees. any recommendations on where to start looking for the reason?

thanks folks for the replies

I'm understanding that the front wheel is not square to the triple trees, the triple trees are not perfectly aligned win each other, and the fork tubes aren't aligned with each other either. Hold the front tire securely in a wheel chock, then loosen either the upper OR the lower triple tree fork clamps and ONE of the axle clamps enough that you can force movement with the handlebars, but not enough that they spring back into their old position.  Now use the handlebars to tweak everything into perfect alignment by sighting along edges that should be parallel. Tighten the triple tree clamps and use the sequence in the service manual for tightening the axle clamps.  Recheck the alignment and repeat the whole procedure if necessary.
