Finally, running on 6 cylinders and actually idles. Now only have to sync the carbs, mount the tank, seat, lights etc, etc Possibly get to ride it in a week or two. But still waiting on the painter, I think tomorrow, I will kick him in the gonads and see if he is still alive.  Evil

Awesome!  Can't wait to see it all together and rolling down the road. It looks good as is so I know it will be better than ever when you are done.

Never get bored, the longer I work on the bike, the longer the wife's honey do list gets.

Bill, you're doing better than I am right now but congrats on the "running" project. Before I dismantled the 1200, especially the wiring harness, I took pictures. Now I can't find them and I've looked in every nook and cranny of the computer, photobucket, camera....nothing. So I'm flying blind, trying to figure it out as I go along by referring to pictures and diagrams in the shop manual. Oh well, keeps me occupied....and talking to myself.  Grin

John, if you remember about when you took the photos you can do a search in that time frame on a computer.
By chance do you still have them on your camera as well ?

Nope, camera's empty and nothing in the computer during the three months surrounding the dismantle. I'll figure it out, just going to take a bit longer than planned.

That is no fun, I have had the computer eat stuff also, a mystery.  I was really frustrated with the bike, the IS engine ran perfect after the wreck, then when I tried to start it a few days ago, no idle and would not run with out the choke full  on. Dang ethanol can really screw stuff up, oh well the carbs should be good for a while, replaced every o-ring, gaskets and jets and needles. And gave them one hell of a cooking, first in carb cleaner, then in an ultrasonic cleaner. They looked new after that.

I'm making some headway, but it's slow. I had a brace welded in to mount the Valk tank I got from Eddie. Turns out the cross piece needs to have a notch cut out so I can thread a bolt in to hold the coils in place. If I had baby fingers 14" long I wouldn't need to do that. Air tools come in very handy, but....tomorrow's another day. I will have to relocate the regulator and a couple other things since the tank prevents mounting in the original spot.

I need to talk to you about the sonic cleaner you have. I've been wanting to get one for some time, just never took the step. These carbs may need a good going over before I'm done unless I create a single carb setup. If I can find some Sched 80 PVC I might just do that, it's heavy enough so it won't be affected by the heat. Sched 40 also works but 80 is preferred. That's all down the road a bit.  cooldude

Good to hear it is up and running and soon to be on the road!

Got the painted parts back this eve.  Now to finish assembling it. With any luck might be able to take it for a few short rides this coming weekend.  Dang, only took 5 1/2 months to assemble a bike, I getting old and slow.

Going to, just little local rides in the country for a while. But at least I feel well enough to get on it again, been a long slow recovery. Still have screwed up hands, but I get by with them.

Most folks would be recovering from that accident for 5 1/2 months...you stripped and built two bikes with well busted up hands and took on a new addition to the family and new responsibilities all while still healing. Congratulations Bill cooldude
