2014 Valkyrie 1800

Seminole, Florida

« on: May 28, 2014, 07:03:48 PM »

We are staying in a luxury log cabin, bordering Unicoi State Park in Sautee, Ga. This place exceeds expectations including Wi-Fi, Satellite TV and radio, luxury rustic accommodations. The worst roads here are better than the best motorcycle roads in Florida. This area is absolutely beautiful, we both could relocate here easily.
This view is from our front porch...no neighbors, on the very top of a mountain.

Waking up to a mountain sunrise and a good cup of coffee...priceless, sunsets off the back porch, but it's been raining every afternoon, still gorgeous country.

This lake is at the bottom of our dirt mountain road in Unicoi State Park.

These two run after us every time we come/go from the cabin.

This place has killer breakfast.

Andrea is at home in antique/thrift stores

Brasstown Bald Mountain, Georgia's highest at 4,784' above sea level.

An old ceremonial mound dating back to the 1500's

Maybe some more tomorrow? This editing/posting is time consuming. Boy I sure miss the mountains and the country. I could leave Florida in the blink of an eye Wink

Make sure that while you are near Helen Ga. To visit Fred's Famous Boiled Peanuts. Good stuff right there. Just don't try to eat them on the bike. Cheesy

Doug if you and Andrea have the time I guarantee you both will enjoy this place.  It is near Blairsville off of 180 which takes you from Rd 75 to U.S. 129.  It has a large variety of wares.  Look it up. They are a FFL also.  You won't regret it but plan on several hours spent there.  Also when you turn onto 129 N toward Blairsville on your right you will see a small BBQ joint with a pig made out of hay bales.  Great BBQ I think it is Jim's Smokin Q.  Doesn't have much parking so go early.

Thanks for the replys...you all are going to love Inzane, even though it's further North, same beautiful country to ride and enjoy.
Terry, we took that exact route to and from Brasstown Bald Mountain yesterday (big loop). I did see the BBQ joint, but missed the store. We are going to visit her brother in Blairsville today and will check it out. Thanks for the address, it's already in the GPS. cooldude
64* right now, should be about 84* this afternoon. It varies quite a bit at different elevations.

Doug here is another suggestion for your evening meal.  Check and make sure they are open the day you want to eat there as they are only open I think it is Thur-Sat.  You need to be there early as the line gets long quick.  Super large steaks and not expensive.  If you want fancy this is not your place, and I see some of the reviews are not good, we ate there once and thought the food was good, the atmosphere is family oriented.  It is just North of the turn off on 180 where you go toward Brasstown Bald on your right.

Deer Lodge 7466 Georgia 17  Hiawassee, GA  30546

We stayed 2 weeks a couple of years ago in the little campground just South of the 180 turnoff on the East side of the road.  There was a couple staying in the campground and he was a bear hunter, would go up in the mountains every day almost hunting.  One day just after he left for the mountain a bear was in the camp going through the garbage for food. Smiley  His wife took a cell phone picture and sent it to him and told him he was in the wrong place!!!!!!!!!
By the way Brasstown Balkd parking lot is open 24/7, I am a Ham Radio Operator also and went up there several days with the radio and antennas to take advantage of the elevation.  You can't go up to the observation area though.  Nice view of the sunset from there.

Looks like you and Andrea are having a blast Doug. Do you have the Valk up there with you? We are heading up that way the end of June for a week. Love the hat!! We would all probably love to live where they have mountain roads to ride but Western NC, Northern GA and East TN are the best in my opinion. I have lots and lots of riding time up there. Be safe and keep posting!  cooldude

Wow! Can't wait to get up there!  Thanks for sharing your vacay photos. We're planning our rides for Inzane week and we might get over to Helen area and can check out Blairsville store and restaurants too.  I do have a whole Interstate trunk to fill up!

rikrok,
Looks like you own all the bikes I've wanted to own. The F6B would be awesome on those roads, smooth power and handling cooldude We saw lots of bikes up there and not a single F6B. There was a Victory gathering, they had an entire hotel. A Victory Inzane.

Looks like a beautiful place Doug remote but still has all the modern conveniences.  I'm looking forward to seeing the FL gang next week at Inzane.
