Leaving next Saturday morning towing the bike. Would love to ride up but the old hip is coming along nicely and I want to be able to ride when I get there so don't want to aggravate it before arriving. Other than the first IZ in Colorado, this is the first one I've not ridden to since I started attending at IZ2. The only reason I trailered the bike to Colorado; temps crossing Kansas in July were 104+, not my idea of a fun ride.

I'll most likely go a bit more than half way, then roll into GZ Sunday afternoon. I'll be taking the western route which is longer than going up I-95 to I-26, but it's a lot more scenic and gives me a chance to stop and see some friends along the way. I plan to pick up 441 and go north from either one of the Atlanta bypasses or NE of Macon off 129. Most likely the first option. I'm returning Friday, again go about half way so I can visit folks along the route, get home Saturday. I'm in debt to Rita's kids for coming and staying with her since she can't be left alone for more than a few hours at a time. I'm now looking forward to reconnecting with some old long-time friends from all over the country. CAN'T WAIT!

Have a safe and wonderful time John, wish I could make it, but obligations here prevent it. Hope fully next year will be in the cards if I am still able to ride.

Bill, I was looking forward to spending some time with you away from the "home" life but I fully understand your situation. I would have done the same thing had the issue come up. As you said....hope next year works out for both of us.

cooldude Sounds like a good plan John. Glad your able to get on the road again!
I've been working my butt off the last couple of weeks and am changing my travel plans. I'm leaving Wednesday before the rains come in and going to wander for a few days on the road before arriving Saturday night in Asheville. I have a couple of old routes that I'd like to revisit but nothing in stone.

I'm leaving Friday midday and will stop probably just shy of Atlanta. Saturday morning will be up early and head for Franklin, NC to stay with some friends. They live in the Mill Creek Golf Resort and I should be there about midday. Plans are for us to play a round of golf that afternoon so I'm taking my sticks with me. Love playing there, lots of woods, up and down hills and valleys, beautiful grounds. Last time I played there I startled a couple deer, my ball landed between them. They just ambled off. One hole you can't see from the tee box, nor can you see players that have teed off ahead of you if they're over 200 yds. out. So, they hung a large bell at the bottom of the valley and when you're about to clear that area you ring the bell. That lets the next players know it's OK to tee off. One thing about the course, if you hit the ball past the crest of a ridge you get a heck of a roll. If not, you still get a good roll....back toward you. With my hip I've not had a club in my hand for six months so it's going to be "interesting."

Have a safe trip John. I'm assuming you got the trailer all squared away? Enjoy the mountains!

Yup, everything is checked out....including the bike. I changed out the left taillight on the trailer, also picked up some new lug nuts. My wife is so rotten....as I was heading out the door with one of them in my hand, she asked where I was going. Told her I was headed to Advance Auto for some new nuts, then held up the rusty chrome one. I'll stop there!!!!  angel  Will load Thurs. afternoon and leave midday Friday. Taking a few items to sell since I either don't need them or haven't used them in quite some time. Also taking my clubs, already made arrangements with my friend in Franklin, NC.....I'm going to embarass him with how bad I play.  Grin
