Getting ready to rebuilt carbs with the help of D Rays videos using Redeyes rebuild kit.  Videos show how to rebuild carbs but nothing on separating the carbs to replace the o rings.  I did a search found nothing.  Any info out there on separating carbs or is it a no brainer, any tips.

Here's a tip.

Take plenty pictures of the linkage and connections including springs and everything else because people have had problems remembering how things are supposed to go back together.

My advice:  Taking the carburetors apart is not preventive maintenance procedure.  Don't do it!

+1 on that. But as stated, in case you insist on doing so, make use of the camera. As for those springs at various places in the ass'y., they have a tendency to come loose unexpectedly and fly across the room, at which point they enter another dimension...never to be seen again. If the rails aren't leaking, I'm not sure I'd mess with it. That old saying of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here. The sequel to that is "if we can't fix it, we can fix it so nobody else can either."

so, i am sitting here thinking. i did my carbs and you have to take apart. noway to get to some of the parts to change rings and just maybe that where your clog is.
i believe i remember i just did one at a time, you can do 2 no problem on one side bank take one carb off tear down i had a couple of glass jars to put real small pieces that had to be soaked in there so there was no problem on where the parts go now one carb on the other bank i let them soak a min of 8 hrs after cleaning did the next 2 get some small boxes put a soft towel for a lining to keep parts in so everything can be marked. on the redeye website he give you a diagram of all the parts that need to be replaced print it out. that your answer. keep parts separated only do one or two at a time to soak.
still can be done in a couple of days putting everything back together can be tricky take your time
soak 2 after cleaning put together soak 2 go off have a beer a few hours later put together you get the picture
one chain of thought do the tear down on a bath towel it will keep parts from rolling off, like they say some spring like to fly
go slow ask questions i do not post much i am doing service on my beast now looking at the archives almost done keep the rubber side down 1997 red 160,000 what a beast it has been a adventure since the fall of 1996 i got one of the early ones and kept it

Do youself a favor and get the 2 qt. ultrasonic cleaner at Harbor Freight. Do carbs one at a time. Use 1 qt. ziplocks for carb body and snack size ziplocks for small parts and number each bag with carb number (1-6). I ran mine through the cleaner 4 times each with heat mode on. Flushed each one with hose then air pressure till dry. Hope the little steel sleeves between carbs come out easier than mine.

I'm with stuffy on the small parts. They'll roll farther than you can throw 'em and get under things that they won't fit to get back out. Like they were beamed there.

The worst part for me was getting the dowel pins out that hold the carbs together. The little brush that redeye sent me was pretty much useless. One of the most nerve racking bits of maintenance yet, beating on a bolt threaded into the dowel with a ball pein hammer.  tickedoff
