I am feeling a vibration under mid to heavy throttle, throughout entire bike can feel in the handlebars. It goes away after I let off and cruise. Any ideas. thinking maybe a u-joint but she only has 17k miles. I have had other Valkyries and don't remember this happening.

See!
What you need to do is describe what you are experiencing in a more
thorough and descriptive way.
Just saying VIBRATION doesn't get it.
I'm not trying to be ugly, but what you say so far, is normal occurrence
with a carbureted engine.

Maybe it is just me as this Valkyrie is new to me. I can feel a vibration in entire bike under heavy acceleration but smooth when cruising. Like an old 4x4 truck that has a ad bad u joint. Its is not a grinding noise or feeling just a small but very noticeable vibration. I can feel in the seat and handlebars. Bike is all stock, engine wise anyway, Thanks.

I have that under load with the 2001 I/S with sidecar. Does it without the car too. From about 2400 rpm up to almost 3000 rpm. Noise, vibration. I have tried to tighten the bolt, already as tight as I can get it. Do not know if something else is making it or not. If it was pinging, I am sure the motor would have destroyed itself by now. I quite often run in 4th with the car on, otherwise I am cruising at speed that has the vibe, by going to 4th, I am above the 3000 rpm top where it quits. MP

17,000 miles
Very doubtful it's the U-joint.
What you're experiencing is normal.

Question:
What gear, one or all? What RPM is this happening. Pull the plugs after a run and look at the bottom of the plug for little aluminum balls. If you can, pull over and pull a couple of plugs ASAP from it happening.
IF you find these balls, it is pinging, from lugging in gears or crappy gas. Not sure where you live, but in Iowa we have a better mixture of gasohol with the 10%.
MGM has had some mods made to the engine and it will ping, if I happen to catch a gear at too low of rpm's and then snap the throttle open.
So, please give us all the details as to this occuring as possible. It will be most appreciated by all concerned in trying to help you.
Otherwise we are just shooting blanks into the sky and not hitting anything. We need a fairly good target to shoot at.

"I am feeling a vibration under mid to heavy throttle, throughout entire bike can feel in the handlebars"
There is a problem somewhere,, and it sounds severe,,, this needs to be chased down till it is found. Just because the bike has only 17K, don't rule out the ujoint being bad, rule nothing out.... the bike should be smooth and accelerating under wide open throttle.

When I had that problem, it was the drive shaft and pinion gear trashing each other. Fairly easy to fix and not too expensive. I replaced the u joint too while I was in there. I had 125,000 miles on it. Don't wait for it to go bang, check it and see. If it strips on the road you are done riding and into hauling. Couple hundred bux for parts. Hope I'm wrong. Hoser

I guess his valk is automatic..
Alright. If you happen to have a trigger wheel, then you MUST use high octane fuel, if not, then you will have pinging. If you do not know if you do or don't have a trigger wheel, then try high octane fuel and see if it still happens anyway.
Next, if you ride, you obviously know that if you are in a high gear, like 5th and are traveling about 35mph, you'll have vibrating.. And so forth, respectively.
Next, check the tightness on your BUZZ bolt whatever the f*** that is, but that's what the other guy says, so do it.

My buzz bolt made vibrating noise and drove me crazy, but there was no vibration of the bike.
Still, crank it down.
