Rear tire (Avon) has a very slow leak. Will drop 20 pounds of pressure over  2 weeks.I can not find the leak, and it has me worried that it could leave me on the road if it suddenly became a bad leak instead of a pest. The valve stem is metal one not plastic and was my first suspect ,it does not appear to be the  source. I also checked the the valve core  and tightened it (did not appear to be loose). I have sprayed soapy water  around the tire rim  as well as the tread with no results. The tire has 4000 miles on it so I would rather not replace it unless I have to.Any suggestions on how to find this pest?Thanx guys.(again)

If you have a big galvanized wash tub or a swimming pool remove the wheel with the leaky tire overpressure it by 10-12 P S I and immerse the tire to find your leak. The cleaner your water is the easier the leak is to find. A soap water solution brushed or poured-try to prevent application bubbles-might show the leak also. And at times when I worked in a tire shop I have found the leak in the cast wheel. This should find the wascally wab-oh-yer lookin fer a leak!!  2funny RIDE SAFE.

you may have a small nail, but it could be the valve stem starting to go.  Spray a little soapy water at the base of the stem and then gently move it around a bit and see if you cant make bubbles

Just start or has it been this way since the tire was installed?  Tire shops aound here don't do a great job cleaning the rim of the wheel.  Until i started mounting my own I could never get them to hold air over a couple of week period.  Now I don't ever have to add air.  Just sayin.  Might have been a poor job cleaning the rim at the last tire change.
