Well I added the acid to the battery and took it to my friend to charge

Before testing we put it on his meter (the one we use for load testing batteries)

It read 14 volts before charging on the lower setting of the big charger

So we charged it just 4 hours on general principles since the instructions said to charge first

I have never had a battery go straight to 14 volts before

See ya in Asheville folks

Its good you charged it anyways.......Its not Volts you really need as much as Amps for the ignition.  At a full charge you have the required cranking amps.  Have a good one!

AND that proper first charge seems to let the battery live longer. Looking forward to seeing you and Bonnie again my friend.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

It's a lead pipe cinch that if you don't have the volts, you ain't going to get the amps!!

well that little voice  (ok it was chrisJ's )  said to put the battery
on the trickle charge overnight anyway so I went and did that till I
got a steady green light on the charger this morning

Will put the battery in the bike tonight.

Bound for Waynesboro in the morning with the G-Man

Anyone heading south we will be at the construction pull off in Nyack NY at 7
