Todd & Pennie Harris

Clyde, NC (formerly of Lakeland, FL)

« on: June 11, 2014, 11:05:27 PM »

Hi, all. We (Todd, Pennie, Bob, Michele) did not make it to GZ today as we started out from our location a bit late, hoping the weather would look more promising. The clouds stayed around but we started out anyway, having to don our rain suits twice during the day.

We rode some back roads to Asheville then jumped on the Parkway and headed North. We met a group of Valk riders from Indiana & Kentucky just south of Mt. Mitchell.

They had a couple custom bikes in their group:

Notice the special modification to this bike ... the side bags are now a boomin' audio system:

Now witness what happens when you get a guy from Kentucky in a rainsuit, his friends are laughing at him, and Michael Jackson plays on the speakers (P.S. he wants everyone to know that his playlist is very long and it just happened to be on "M" when I asked for a demo ... MJ is not his #1 choice for music.  Roll Eyes )

Only a couple riders put on rain suits before they left, while the others said they were jinxing them.  We caught up to them about 3 mins. up the parkway when it started to pour, as they stopped under some overhanging trees so the rest could suit up (look at those clouds!).

We weren't so fortunate and got a bit wet before we found a roof under which to gear up:

We rode north to Linville Falls, had dinner in a great restaurant called Louise's Rock House, then took some more back roads to Hot Springs, then back to home base. Traffic was light and eventually the weather turned sunny and breezy. A good day!

Thanks for the effort Pennie.  I know it's not easy to do this after riding all day and actually posing everyone for the pics. Smiley
