Author Topic: Twisted off threaded section of the right rear lower shock bolt  (Read 1603 times)

Anyone have a proven method to remove it. Ordered another bolt....will be here in a few days. I thought I was torquing it right....and POP............twisted it off. I'll be very careful on the next one. Thanks for any suggestions. BTW......I was using this method (shocks off) to remove rear tire.........I just went DARKSIDE!!!!

shouldn't be too hard to get out.  Isn't this the one with the shoulder?

With the pumpkin off the bike or maybe just the wheel removed you can get at the bolt end from the back side, drill a pilot hole in the end of it and then insert a self tapping screw and just turn it out like you were were tightening if but since you are going the other way it should extract that part

Short trip to Sears and got a removal kit................worked like a charm. Now all I have to do is sit and wait while we are hit with some good riding weather and my girl is up on the jack : (

Use a dab of anti-seize on the threads. Derate the torque spec to 11-11.5 ft/lbs.
