Been riding my Valk for a few months and have a run up a few thousand miles.  Great fun.  I have noticed however that the radiator fan never seems to run.  Even coming back from a ride with a hot engine and letting it sit after killing the engine but leaving the ignition switch on. I just confirmed my fan runs by shorting the wire that goes to the fan switch to ground with the ignition switch on.  looking at the wiring diagram, it looks like the only things that can go wrong are that switch, the fan motor or the fuse for that circuit.  Since mine ran, then the fuse and motor are good.  Before draining the radiator and replacing the fan switch, just how often would I expect the radiator fan to run?  Is it normal for the Valks cooling fan to run very little? Is the switch a frequent failure point?  Thanks, Mike

Yes it's normal. Even here in 125* mine doesn't come on unless I'm stopped or moving slowly. You're temp light isn't coming on is it?

No, temperature light isn't coming on.  So sounds like I don't need to do anything.  Really didn't want to get out and work in the humidity.  It's like a sauna right now.  Won't worry about it.  Thanks meathead

The only time I know of when mine comes on is when doing a carb sync and shorting the fan lead to ground as you did,, I have never had it come on when riding that I have noticed.

Even if it comes on while riding you won't know it if you are above 10-15 mph.
I do hear mine while sitting still. more on my IS than the standard.
If you go out and start it and let it idle it should come on after it warms up but could take several minutes.

mine does not come on very often reallly has to be hot and has to be moving slow for long while,or idling for long periods. These engines are really well designed to run as cool as they do..I am always finding something new to be impressed about .

My concern is that you seem to say that the fan never comes on.  As said, it doesn't come on very often, but, it should come on in hot weather when the engine is idling for a few minutes such as at a stop light.
