Hey gang. Longtime member, 1st post in a while....

I like the newer board... it has been a while hasn't it?

Question is this, has anyone adapted an IS radio set up to work on a Standard? I've got an urge to add tunes to my 98, not sure whether the IS set up is a good option. If anyone has other setups that work for them, i.e. aftermarket products, I am most interested in hearing about it.

Thanks

That would take some creative wiring as the Standards wire harness isn't going to accommodate the I/S radio. And, if your not going to utilize the I/S fairing your creative juices would need to extensively flow because you will need some kind of display.

There are many other ways to add tunes.

Amp
MP3
Bar speakers
Helmet speakers
Car type stereo in saddle bag w/wired remote
Fairing speakers & radio mount
    Just a few examples.

I did an aftermarket fairing with a Sony head unit & Polk 5.25" Momo speakers. I also have the Hondaline CB piping through to the headset thru the Aux input as well as the Garmin XM/MP3. All pumps out of the stereo speakers along with the headset (CB is headset only). This system is crystal clear and volume is remakable.
It was expensive, both in $$$ and my labor time.

Generally the least expensive is an MP3, amp & speaker (i.e. J&M Amplified bar speakers).

Thanks much... nice set up by the way. I think I am leaning toward a speaker / amp / MP3 set up. I wanted to stay away from a headset only type of arrangement, I had looked at the J and M stuff last week and while nice it looks like you can't do speakers with it.
I saw another set up that looks like a tank bag with all the components but that doesn't work either. I think good handlebar mounted speakers and plugging an I pod or XM in to it probably is the way to go.

Have a great day!
