Yeah, Yeah, Yeah Pingle Pingle Pingle....
Someone hasn't found a 22mm petcock to replace this POS that is reasonably priced??
Don't tell me how great your pingle is, tell me where you found one that was reasonable.
I unwillingly donated my last Pingle to a member that never paid me for it. I should have just kept it.

Go to the dealership and price a new OEM then call Pingel. I don't even have to wonder which you will choose

Reverse the spring on the diaphragm and no more problems with the OEM. Of course, now you better remember to shut off the flow when you park the girl. Or an electronic fuel solenoid. You will never wonder if you pinched the vacuum line either since that can be removed and capped at the both ends.

Here is "The rest of the story"... I bought a low mile I/S Slow jets were plugged when I bought it. No big deal, clean the carbs. upon removal of the carbs it was evident that they had recently been cleaned, yet they were plugged again. I bought an AFC valve, and a filter, cleaned the tank and when I inspected the petcock I saw it too was full of crap. So I went to my magic box of never ending Valkyrie parts and grabbed the petcock from my EFI bike, It looks like new. I took the guts out, because I don't want or care about the vacuum function. Fired the bike up and went for a short ride, very short, I made it about 4 miles and it "ran out of gas" I waited on the side of the road for a minute or three and restarted the bike and hobbled back home. Ran it in the driveway for a while and it sounded fine. Took it back out and beat the crap out of it trying to make it happen again. It ran fine. Tried to take it to dinner the other night and didn't even make it to the road.
So tonight I figured I'd tear into it. I figured it must be the filter causing the restriction though it didn't make any sense. I pulled the tank and the filter, hooked the filter back on to the tank and turned on the petcock, fuel poured out. Turned the PC off, and back on... no fuel. Off and on again no fuel. Well the filter must be the problem. Pulled the filter off and turned the PC on full flow, turned it off, back on... nothing... how is that possible? Not sure. But sometimes there is no or little flow from the petcock, and sometimes it flows fine... It has no diaphragm in it, just a gasket between the housing and cover. So I don't trust it.
oh, and I also removed the screen.

Hmm. I wonder if the vent is plugged!!?? I have to check that tomorrow. Yep, the more I think about it, I'll bet that is it. Each time it flowed better I had just opened the fuel cap, in the driveway, I added more fuel, and in the shop I added more fuel, and that time I left the cap ajar and couldn't make it happen again. Couldn't resist, went back out to the shop. I put a vacuum pump on the vent and sure enough I could pull a vacuum on the vent. It wouldn't hold it, but you could pull vacuum. I took the air hose and blew through the vent and Viola! Now its clear! I'll fire it up tomorrow and give a report. Thanks for all the help, this is a great place to find Valkyrie help. Even If you are just talking to yourself!!

Thanks for the reminder. Sometimes we are so sure of the problem we skip the trouble shooting to verify the solution.

I just took the guts out and put a gasket in between the housings. The vent WAS the problem. Took it out today and hauled donkey 90+ mph for 15 miles. No problem. Got my AFC valve, and a decent filter. And piece of mind.

You answered ALL your own misgivings in one post........ YES.........you should have kept your Pingle fuel valve.......and you need to get at least SOME of the money UP FRONT.....before you "sell" something! Just because they belong to this Club, does NOT mean that they are all honest.......... The fuel valve is STILL worth the price, Pingle sells them for!!! I was SO happy to shed that factory set up!!

I think if you treat the stock petcock as a maintenance item and take care of it you will not have a problem with it.
