Have done the Glass Pack / Truck stack mod to an extra set of Pipes I ran across. I want to finish them off w/ s a set of Grumpy's Exhaust Tips. Grumpy's site offers, large bore tips, small bore tips and trim rings. What difference will each tip have on sound and / or performance.
I added a short piece of 2" tailpipe to the glass pack to bring it within about 3" of the back of the truck stacks,  this seems to have solved the droning issue, any thoughts ?

Thanks

I don't know the sound differences but you could post this on the Florida board or PM him. cooldude

These are large bore, about a quarter inch restriction.  kind of a sport car sound. porche like.  Not loud, mellow.  Hoser

I sent a PM to Grumpy before I posted here, he suggested I take it to the Board for a broader opinion.  His thoughts were that large bore reduced Highway drone, small bore reduced drone even more, trim rings made little to no difference on drone.
He did not elaborate on sound or performance difference, just want to get as much info as possible before I place an order .

Thanks

I have viking pipes and the large bore. they will quite it down esp the inherent vibration in the outside exhaust tube which is actually a lot of noise. I did one pipe at a time to listen for any difference and the tips do lower the noise threshold. Plus they look great. big  cooldude to Grumpy

I have 4" truck stacks on my Tourer and I got the smooth finished tips on mine. All I know is that after adding the tips, my exhaust drone is completely gone. Worth every damn penny!!!

I have the truck stacks on the valk with a set of Grumpy's smooth "trim rings" and I think they are worth every penny.  It really dresses up the normal cut end of the 4" pipes.

Go from this:

To a nice finished look like this:
