Hadn't ridden the Valk in about three weeks so I decided to take her out for a morning ride.  Beautiful ride till about 10:00 and the heat off the exhaust and radiator was cooking me as I rode and searing me when ever I had to stop!  I have Baker Wings but they do almost nothing to reduce the heat.  "Stick a fork in me and see if I'm done!"  LoL   If I don't find some alternative way to cool it down I'll have to park her until this fall.  Anyone found some better way to cool the ride?  Until then I'll be riding my newest ride, which I can do in shorts and tennis shoes.  2005 Triumph Speedmaster.  It even has a seat vibrator for the passenger!

I think these air wings are designed to keep the heat in. i turned mine sideways today and found it is better, but somebody at InZane told me it is best to take em off for these real hot days, i may do that tomorrow and see if it helps. She is one Hot fire breathing biotch for sure coolsmiley

Yep....remove them from what I hear.
And....if you think that is bad try one of those big ol air cooled twins right up underneath your boys at a stop light. At least the exhaust is way underneath the engine on our bikes and the cylinder heads are down around ankles. That plus the engine being water cooled sits at around 160 max.
I was running a water cooled Vulcan 1600 before the Valk and it was ALOT hotter than the Valk ever thought about being. The BMW I have is also way hot.

Anyway....we all knew about your Triumph a long time ago. I found it while cruising the web. Does your wife know about it yet?? lol

Very good looking bike by the way!
Have been looking at the older Triumph Thunderbirds with the 3-cylinder 900 in them. They sound wonderful and have a ton of power for their size. Detractors so far though are spoke wheels and a chain.

Ron,
My experience only, and I've said it before; the Bakers have to come off here in the summer. Rode today and yes it was hot, hot, hot. Would have had them off last week but had not had the chance. Either tonight or when I get in Saturday evening.

Guess I'll give it a try and see how it goes!  Thanks

Life is like a hot bath. It feels good while you’re in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get.

Next time I go out for a ride I'll take my laser heat gun with me just to see what kind of temps I get.  Be interesting to see what "floats up" when sitting at a light.

Nope, do it all the time.  Just love being cool at the possibility of road rash!  Very little heat comes from cylinders and exhaust when stopping and none when running down the road.  You might ask, "How many times have I burnt my leg on the muffler?  (I won't say.  LoL)
