Remember the word preliminary!

I hope this doesn't bite me us the butt, but I thought we would try a new tactic and keep everyone updated on IZXV progress as we go.  This way at least y'all know we're not just sitting around on our hands.

Probable dates: June 8-12 (Early Bird Night June 7)
Probable location:  Black Hills area of SD

We are negotiating with a site in the Black Hills area, there are a few areas of contention.  For example, they won't let us do our early bird cook-out ourselves.  If it's on site, they have to host it, which they are willing to do, but at 4 times the cost that we normally put in to it.  There are also some issues for what they want to charge for function space.  Hopefully, we can work it all out.  If our negotiations fall flat, Asheville is more than happy to have us back.

.UPDATE!!
The dates and location are secured:
June 8-12. 2015... Early Bird Festivities, Sunday June 7
Spearfish, SD

For tax reasons, registration will not be open until the first of the year.  If we can find a way around the tax issue, we will open sooner.

South Dakota =  cooldude

Back in Asheville =  cooldude

I don't think we could lose either way on this one!

With going to South Dakota... on my states ridden map, I still need North Dakota. Guess if I'm so close I'll have to schlep on up there.

p.s. - I really don't think the early bird cook-out should be a deal breaker.... bet there is a park with a nice pavilion nearby. Rent the grills and such if needed.

Connie, sounds like the SD site may be a bit costly for all, causing you "planners" to have to recoup some costs in another manner; registration for both the members and any vendors that may show up. Personally, I wouldn't spend a lot of time with those folks if they can't bend a little. I'm certain using Asheville a second time would be more than welcome by the majority of members, I know I'm fine with it. For me, the shortest distance to Rapid City, SD is a good 2k miles so may be out of the question.

Also, for me personally I would have to arrange for someone to be with my wife for at least two weeks, possibly longer. That would pretty much leave me out but....who knows what will happen between now and then. Those are just my thoughts on what is known at this point.

Asheville area was pretty nice and a week earlier in June..........

Sweet

Still have a whole bunch of the area left to explore

Ditto for the Black Hills area

Nice riding, just 1750 miles each way
and having to pass by Chicago again too    Shocked

means 6 days of travel for 4 or 5 there

But I have done it before and had a great time

Whatever it is I am sure we will have a wonderful group of folks in attendance

We are checking into that very idea, I was a bit leery about having folks jump back on their bikes after their travels.  But, hopefully, we can find a park within a few miles.

Regarding the self-help cookout (or anything else of this nature), if it is (more) money they want, you can only negotiate.

But if liability concerns (and insurance) is the reason they want to take ownership/control of any/all events on their property, you may be able to offer them a well drafted waiver of liability holding them (their company, corporation, stockholders, and all heirs, assigns, etc) harmless for any injuries or damages resulting from running our own events.  I can help with this, if liability is their concern.

Of course there is an issue of agency and whether VRCC The Club has actual authority to act in such a way as to waive liability for all participants who show up to an Inzane function..... but you do not bring this up, let them figure it out.

Additionally, they could always reserve the right to place an employee at any event we run to provide input on any safety issues that might bother them.

That to me means that Asheville should be off the table.   If the place in SD doesn't play ball then try some other place in SD or we can always go somewhere else.   Places in North GA or WV or PA would be great.    If you need to look further out West, Montana isn't that far from the Black Hills area.

I would even be happy with the Johnson City TN area.   It was a great location and been a few years since we've been there.

Where ever we end up we'll have a good time.

At my age Sd is a little to far for me to ride, only option would be to trailer there, and if I have to drag the toy hauler 2000 miles one way, I would probably find a camp site, rather than ground zero, just economics. Old and on fixed income. Ashville is in riding range, or Johnson city was nice also.

Regardless of where it's held, I'll do my best to be there and want the staff to know that I fully support and appreciate this approach to InZane planning.
Personally, I'd rather go back to NC, SC, NE GA, SE TN, Eastern KY but, that's just me.      Heck, I'd even go to Topeka, KS if it were held there.   Wink

 Thanks for providing the info.

Myself and the only other member I know of in this part of MT  would go if in SD. Sturgis area is an easy day ride for us. I have only been around here since 2009 but haven't made it to an inzane yet for the same reasons you mention. Probaly lots more members in the east and the ones who put it together seem to be from over that direction so I get it.

I bet the cost to put this on could be reduced a bunch if was moved further west into WY. Near Gillitte or Sheridan or Buffalo. Those areas aren't as touristy and would love our money be spent in Their towns.
The black hills would be ridden thru for most going and coming so wouldn't lose out for seeing that as well. The big horns and the wind river canyon are some of the best riding in my opinion. I'm sure lots of fun will be had no matter where it is.

That is what I "Do" look forward to...meeting some of the west coast members I have not had the chance of meeting before.  Since I am retired I will be there. It's all about the ride for me, but  for others it is just not in the cards to go to it with just a weeks vacation time.

All of the VRCC officers are based way West of the Mississippi
Only 3 out of the 14 past Inzane's have been West of the Mississippi

Same distance either way.  Both are superb choices - and the date in June makes it available again for my vacation planning.  The dates are very much appreciated.  Hope it is the Black Hills, in either SD or Wyoming.

I like it, love the black hills.  A long day ride or an easy two day for me from Topeka.  Gives the western folk a chance at it too. Wyoming is close, too.  A little black hills action about  eight years ago, my first venture into the Black Hills. Were you there that year Oss?
