I agree with you about the June ride out there. Should be nice and I don't do well in the heat (August). Either month the weather is always a gamble. A week early to Sturgis is getting really crowded to. Everyone has been getting the same idea about getting there early. Next year I would suspect that the event will be two weeks long even though not officially with everyone getting there early.. In comparison I think InZane will be the most profitable meeting some of you and even monitarily. The money isn't the issue it's the time off for me. I agree with your analogy, and the ride is what some of this is about. Meeting people is the best and I have something in common with most of you, you're all kinda,,,,,goofy. I'm ok but you guys? Could be a good suggestion you just made.
It already is a 2 week long rally, actually almost 3 weeks. Still officially 1 week. Crowds dont bother me and traffic is a breeze if you use other streets. June is to early for me to travel by bike out west, but thats just me. Ive had my share of 40 deg nights in Aug.

IZ would be a blast to go to at least once. Still undecided.

Add some side trips out and back to Inzane and this will be the trip of a lifetime. That part of the country has so much to see you won't believe it.
Tetons
Yellowstone
Devil tower
Chief Joseph hwy.
Beartooth pass
Badlands
Idaho
Wyoming
Colorado
North Dakota
South Dakota
Utah

Just to name a few. You will be talking about this ride long after you are in the rocking chair and can remember were your bike is parked.

Those of you that are coming a long way, should post your route.  I would love to meet up with others on the way out from the east.  I'm 625 miles away from Spearfish along I-90.

This will be a great ride.  1850 miles each way for us and so much to see.  It's tough for us that are still working to get enough vacation days to do this trip right.  Hoping 10 days vacation and the 3 weekends will be enough.  The trip is so long I may get overruled and be forced to drive the Goldwing instead of the Valkyrie.  My better half is much more comfortable on the Goldwing than the Valkyrie.  Maybe a new Diamond Custom seat for the Valkyrie, like the one on the Goldwing, will convince her to bring the Valkyrie.  Certainly could check off a few Bucket List items to be able to drive the Valkyrie in that area.

Hi Meathead,

Taking this Valkyrie is very unlikely.  I haven't been able to get her to ride it more than a hundred miles yet.  It is loud, has Beetle bags (which hold very little) and no trailer hitch.  If I end up putting the Trunk back on and put a BushTec trailer hitch on it we might bring it to a more local Valkyrie event.  This bike is my everyday commuter bike.
The Valkyrie we might take to InZane 15 is the one we took to Asheville this year for InZane 14.  Here is a picture of it.

As someone who only lives 4 hrs away (and others), what kind of weather could we expect in June?

Being so close to the coast, I know what kind of weather on the west, but going through the mountains into the interior at that time of the year, I expect cold nights and warm days. Very little snow. Maybe even dry?

I'm from Iowa, but my cousin lives in Rapid City, SD and I have gone to the Sturgis Rally several times.   Like from 1954 to 1996, never missed a year.   Free lodging in RC, SD.     All I have to do is treat them to a nice dinner out in the area somewhere, they pick the place, I buy.   Then usually an evening of gambling and dinner in Deadwood.

The weather is nice and expect rain in the evening.    Showers don't last too long.

That is the weather I always experience when in Sturgis and or Rapid City, SD.

That's Charlie Grau's(a/k/a The Sculptor) old bike. I have some "sweat equity" in that bike and trailer, brings back some great memories. He was a good friend to me.

Reading about Inzane 2015 and getting excited. Never seen that part of this big beautiful country of ours. Planning (hoping) to make the trip. No foreseeable problems to keep me from going. Looking for others in my area to ride with. I figure you will be passing me somewhere nearby. Maybe we can hook up and make the trip together.

Actually I do hope everyone knows I was just kidding.  Something should be made public pretty soon.

I was a little disappointed in the response to my joke.  Not one calendar order!   Undecided  I thought maybe a handful of my friends desperate for the opening of InZane registration would order a calendar just to speed up the process.   Smiley

R J, I need to clear up a few items in case someone misunderstands.

When the VRCC decided to sponsor the 2015 wall calendars they put up all the money for supplies.  I won't be stuck personally with any expense for leftover calendars, but only with the disappointment of my colleagues.  We're actually pretty well past that point as we're down to ten calendars left.  When those are gone we'll most likely take down the VRCC order site for calendars and simply point our members to the printer to acquire a VRCC 2015 wall calendar.  At this point I look pretty good for business decisions.

It takes only a few thousand dollars per year to provide what the VRCC makes available to its members.  Most years between one and two thousand of that comes from calendar sales.  This year, in large part due to the late start we'll be at the low end of that range.  That being said, any contributions above the calendar price goes directly to the VRCC.  When we discussed and agreed for the VRCC to sponsor the calendars I released any benefit I would've (notice how I didn't incorrectly use of) received to the VRCC.

Thank you, R J, for your additional contribution.  The VRCC appreciates what you and others have contributed.  On the subject of my friend, Jimmy T, one would have to dig pretty deeply to catch up to his contribution.  He's up there with the top in a very generous number of VRCC contributors.

That said, if anyone wishes to get in on snatching up one or more of the last few calendars in my stash, now is the time.

Ok, I don't mean to be a PITA and I know the powers to be have a life outside the VRCC, but do we have a target date for Inzane XV registration to be opened up?  I'm tired of picking up the iPad every two hours to see if Inzane XIV has been replaced on the home page.  Losing sleep.  Someone had to ask...
