Handcuff and search me PLEASE !

Festus Mo. 40 min. south east of St.Louis

I've been the owner of a 2000 Interstate for about  6yrs, Totaled it a few years back. Bought it back from the insurance co. Got the fat black girl back the way I like um. Clean and dependable , But shes starting to show her age,not yet middle age . Only 75.000 miles. Recently puchased a 2003 Standard with a salvage title. Thats got only 31.000 miles on her . Needs a fuel tank, speedo & tachometer , both sides on the engine guards and a head lite ring and I'd ride her all nite long. But I have been waiting for the title to come back, with a lot of ideas going thru my head. The one that keeps coming back is to swap all my 2000 Interstate parts to the Standard, I like the storage on the interstate, I comute 97 miles round trip to work. Gives me room for wet weather gear, lunch box , extra helmet ect. I believe while lurking in the back ground I read about some of Kingbee's adventures on somthing similar. What all will be invloved? Wiring Harness, Front forks or spings, fairng , fuel tank rear shocks , trunk and radio, am I missing any biggies ? Any one else gone this route? When I list it like that it sounds like a headach .

1998 Standard
1999 Tourer saddlebags
2001 Interstate trunk

Its all plug a play until you get to the fairing everything will bolt up. My fairing is a Hoppe that was made for the Valkyrie so I can't help with whats involved in tradin' out the Interstate fairing.

I sorta' did that a couple of years ago to a Tourer.  I wimped out at the wiring harness, though.  I fabbed up the wiring for the fairing using the Std/Tourer instruments, put an automotive stereo in one of the bags and then installed a Hondaline CB.

You have a stiffer frame with your Interstate, and rubber enhanced engine mounts, along with an alternator that starts charging at lower RPMs, with an attached noise filter.

What's wrong with your Interstate that can't be refreshed?  75 K is nothing.

Did mine, kinda like Smokin' Joe...

'97 Standard
Champion Saddle Bags
2001 IS Trunk (quick release ala Big BF)
2001 IS Gas Tank
Hoppe Fairing (discontinued)

I've got a 150 watt amp, where the tool kit should go, under the seat, and run My XM Radio through the front and rear speakers.

Best part, is that it goes from a long range cruiser, to a Harly Stompin' bar hopper, in less than 10 minutes  cooldude

Ready to hit the road for two weeks...

Just a weekend jaunt...

Or, lookin' for someone to play with (older picture)...  Here Piggy, piggy...

It's all good  Wink

Here's Blondie and her version of such - a '99 Tourer. Has the big tank and a number of other amenities. I have a Harley FLH shield which I'm in process of modifying its attachment brackets to bolt up to the OEM Honda Tourer windshield mounts. She didn't want the extra bulk of the I/S fairing, else we would have gotten her an I/S to start with.

As others have pointed out, 75K is nothing for one of these bikes. Freshen up the chassis parts, timing belts and other rubber pieces and the engine will be good for many more miles...

Ya you are all correct on the 75000 mile being nothing to the Valkyrie. I have owned a few wings sold all of them with more miles than that on the clock . just . My buddy I purchased it from is a fair weather rider, there for it didn't have the need for the more frequint wash and waxes I gave mine. Don't get me wrong, most people have a hard time believing she has been riddin that many miles. The difference just shows now that they are in the stable next to each other. The I/s lower legs and wheels have lost some luster. The Chrome dosent glisten like it used to. It was just a thought to swap it all over. I was not awear of the beefed up frame , the difference in altranaters ect. I have had it pretty far apart when I wrecked it. 12.000 in damages.Got it back to a very nice ride for a 1/4 of that.I figure the 03 should be back together for about a grand I will need an inexpensive black tank to come in at that price. And I am going to have to hold off a few weeks to build up the fun money. But thanks for the input and I'm sure you will be seeing more quistions and posts from me.
