What is the metric thread of the nut in the nut cage?  I need to do a thread chase so I can complete my Jumbo Strong install in a workman like manner with a proper tap.  Everything is ready to go back together.  Gary

quexpress:  Nut cage refers to the metal enclosure that holds the rectangular nut into which the bolt securing the rear end of the fender struts threads:
; as in nut cage mod.  To remove this enclosure is to gain more clearance for a car tire.

Jess from Va:  I am installing Tsukaya bags and I don't see fender struts or the rectangolar nut or the fender section in question on the exploded view of Honda hard bags and mounting hardware.

For all others:  I would like to know the Metric thread form for the threaded hole which is off center on the rectangular nut  (please?)

No sweat.

Really, a bunch of Valk fasteners are either 6 or 8mm, and you can never go wrong to start there with any question about size/thread.

But I did look it up, but cannot follow the convoluted parts-fish schematic I posted, for bolts.

The rear fender schematic has none of the relevant fasteners.

Done that mod years ago for a 200 tire ....

... but did not check the thread pitch.
However Pancho gave you the specs: 8mm

Good luck!

Well, it looks like this simple bag install is cursed!  Today  I went out to remove and do a thread chase on the rectangular nut that has buggered up threads.  I went to remove the bolt that was only snugged into it and guess what.....The bolt broke off about 1/8th" after the treads start.  Does anyone have suggestions other than remove everything on the right side of the bike having to do with the fender strut?

I just walked away from it before I lost it....need some time to think calmly and rationally.  I am thinking of changing my name to "Cage Nut"

Well, today I took off the rear half of the fender.  Not that bad.  I'mm soaking it with penetrating oil over night and will see if I can extract the broken bolt in the am.  Pleasant dreams......... Gary
