A couple of co-workers and myself plan to leave for Loveland, CO early on the 17th. Ride Colorado for a couple days and return home on the 20th.

Anyone else interested?

I hope anyone available for the weekend will be participating in the KS VRCC outing. If I had not committed to this CO ride the day before I learned of JDW's event, I would be meeting up with everyone in Wilson.

We have a 4th. This will keep our lodging cost down. Thanks and enjoy the KS VRCC event.

John, below are the routes we intend to ride each day. No particular reason these routes were picked. Do you have any comments/suggestions?

I'm in Fort Collins, I wish I didn't have relatives in town this week. I'd love to tag along with you guys. Sounds like a fun trip! Ride safe.

Collins.  I need to bring the scoot out there, Uncle keeps telling me he knows all the good places west of there.  I dont know of my big old valk can keep up with his fancy build harley with 20K of add ons..... hahaha, He never lost me through the Black Hills last summer, guess he will not leave me in the Rockies!

Got home around 6 pm yesterday. Four of us went. The other 3 had not been on a trip like this before. It was a learning experience.

We arrived in Loveland around 6 Thursday evening local time. Friday am was spent riding to Ft. Collins and waiting for a new rear tire to be installed on one of the bikes.

Left Ft. Collins headed back to Loveland and Hwy 34 West for Rocky Mtn National Park. Awesome scenic ride. Took 40 hwy at Granby to Kremmlin and then south on 9 to I70 and overnighted in Frisco.

Saturday am rode I70 west to 191 South through Leadville to Hwy 50. West to Monarch Pass, then back east on 50 to Canon City and the narrow Skyline Drive.

From Canon City we took 115 north to Colorado Springs and over to Limon for the night.

Short but fun trip.

How come the new tire?

I didn't need a new tire..........but one of the others went out there with a worn out leaky tire.

that is the second colorado trip this month that i have heard of that had someone with a tire that was junk when they left the house.

I have thrown tires away that have more tread on them than some guys use.  But i dont use them past the wear bars.  Touch the wear bar, and its out.   If it is going to get to the bars on that 1500 mile trip, it comes off at home.

just strange to me...

I'm with ya on this one.  I changed out a Falken Ziex 512 that probably had 3-4000 miles on it before Inzane this year.  Just because I knew I was going to be riding ~4000 miles in the mountains of NC, Tenn., and Virginia with my wife on board.
We only have 2 tires, I want the best one I can get.
Nuff said.
