Here's where I am at the moment. The wiring all checks out; taillight, brake light from either the pedal or handlebar switch, headlight both hi/lo, horns. Only thing I didn't hook up were the turn signals and front running lights although there is voltage on those lines. Had to do some wiring engineering for the ignition to adapt the '85 engine to the '84 harness. And there was no way I could dress the harness back the way it was but it all seems to have worked out. In the first pic, you can see I've marked the gray piece where I need to cut off the excess to match the shape of the carb base, then drill for the bolts. As for the starter, I was able to hold the broken wire in place to make the start button work. The plugs are in but not tight so after a few hits on the starter, you could actually hear the rpm increase. It finally turned over fast enough long enough to actually make the oil light go out. That's what I wanted, get the oil pumped through the system enough so it's not starved when I first try to crank it up. I don't plan on hooking up the tank for now, just use my external tune up tank and hang it on the handlebar and run it over to the fuel pump. So for now, I need to trim a bit more off the intake runners, get some radiator hose clamps(bigger and stronger) and seal them where they enter the elbows. Seriously thinking about getting some 1100 elbows, they're not quite as tall I'm told. Next, mount the carb and run the fuel line and 12vdc to the choke and idle cutoff. Say a little prayer(make that a big one), and hit the starter. Forgot to mention....also need to mount exhaust.  Cheesy

Once I'm satisfied with how it runs, then I'll start rebuilding the forks, brake calipers, service the rear end and the swingarm bearings. While all that's being done, I'll probably have the wheels  powder coated since the tires need to come off anyway. I'm surprised they still hold air.

I still need to cut a bit more off the length of the runners. They hold the entire manifold about 2" above the engine....too high for the carb to fit with a filter on top.

Looking down on the intake without the carb mount.

7" Adjure headlight I want to use. Already have a hole cut in the back/bottom for the stuffing the wiring in. Still need to create a mount for it to fasten it to the steering neck housing.

Rear turn signals which I'll bolt to the frame and run the wiring inside the frame.

Thanks Roger, I'm having trouble with the intake elbows on the 1200 compared to the 1000/1100. The earlier models appear to have a greater curve inward, approaching 90 deg., and reach in more toward the center of the engine. In comparing my setup with those on an 1100, his runners out to the elbows are much shorter and the carb support in the center is almost down on the engine. So far, my carb mount holds it at least 2" off the engine and it appears to be due to the angle of the elbow. Being up that high makes it difficult to set up the carb with a filter on top. There's a guy down near Lakeland I plan to go see, has a small recycle operation and suggested I bring my part down and do a comparison. It's kinda holding me up at the moment, I'm anxious to get this thing fired up....smoke test, sorta!  Roll Eyes

Your making good progress . I have not seen that variation on a single carb manifold . It looks great.

Just so you'll all know the PVC manifold is a reality, check out this You Tube video. Put it on wide screen, guy takes it up almost to redline without a hiccup. I'm going to make a run up to Jack's Cycle Salvage in Sanford tomorrow if time allows, want to see if they have some 1100 elbows for cheap.
