So the insurance adjuster gave me 100 for the scuff on my pipes from the rock incident.

I am thinking of putting some stacks on the pipes, but I am leaning more and more away from chrome.  I'm just not very good at keeping it clean and shiny (i spend too much time ON the bike as opposed to looking at it).

So are there stacks that I can Paint (I was thinking of a nice flat black using high heat engine paint)?

If it's too much of a to do, then i'll just settle for the Airflo Chrome stacks...

I haven't had 4" exhaust on my truck in a long time, so I can't do an inside measurement for ya, but you might get away with a chunk of 4" exhaust pipe and paint them or ceramic coat them to your color pleasure.

It probably would be easier to keep the chrome clean, than the painted surface. cooldude

Yes, it can be done.
First, paint it with ceramic 1600-degree for Auto exhaust manifolds (NAPA). Then use 500-degree Engine Paint in Black.
I prefer Satin Black. Wink
That's what I did to my Bronco's manifolds. It seems to be working fine. Smiley Last week I used the NAPA "ceramic"
and painted the engine on my Black standard. Roll Eyes Next, I'll be doing the Satin Black coat.

BTW, I painted both, my I/S and my Standard's wheels two years ago using just the Satin Black. Smiley
They still look pretty good to people like you and I who like the Blackout look. Wink
Total investment: $18 bucks. Time on each wheel 5 minutes, no need to remove the wheels or to mask anything. Wink
Just jack her up. Start by slowly spinning the wheel while painting from the Axel behind the disk out to the whole wheel.
With the engine I took my time masking-taping over the chrome pieces on each side that I did not want to paint. Undecided

One hour and two beers later I was done masking. Painting the engine & transmission took me 5 minutes on each side.
After painting, use a small Led Flashlight to find small coves that need to be shot. I found none. Wink

After painting your stacks, start the Lady and idle for 5 minutes. Then go and ride it like you stole her! Cheesy cooldude

Thanks. I'd like to see photos of yours. Wink

For preparation on MOST areas (except the engine itself)  I used liberal amounts of Acetone. Smiley

I did not sand or primer the wheels. Yet, for a two year and one can of spray job they look good.
Most ask where did I have the wheels powder coated. Wink

As for the stacks, I would suggest 000 steel wool and engine primer. Remove the tips and paint them separately (I would not paint those).
But she's your bike to your taste. laugh

I would actually remove the exhaust system, clean it good and shoot it while hanging.
Get it back-on the next day. Replace the six manifold seals while at it. Wink Torque them to specs. Wink

Good luck. coolsmiley

Stick with cleaning the chrome.  The Valkyrie was meant to be chrome.  Although I understand black out is popular today, you'll spend thousands converting and never recover the cost.

Just my $0.02,
