Fellow members,

It is with a heavy heart that I have to tell you my dad passed away this morning.

My dad served in the Army in the 11th Airborne.  He started at the end of WWII in the pacific.  Like the greatest generation he belong to he did for his country.  He left the military after the war ended and came back to the states until Korea broke out.  He reenlisted into the army and was sent to Korea.  He served like before and came back to the states.

My dad was very active with the "Welcome Home a Hero" program at DFW airport.  I am sure many of you have met him there.  He went every Sunday with the Denton County Southern Cruisers to greet the troops.  He made many friends, shook many hands, and he received many hugs and kisses along the way.  He really looked forward to getting up early and having coffee and eggs at IHOP before greeting the troops.  He loved to brag about all his biker buddies to people all over.  He never had any regrets and he lived a long and happy life.

I miss him dearly but I know he is no longer in pain.  He is now with my mother in a better place.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

I will have a memorial planned for him on August 9th but I am still working on the details.

Dave, I'm very sorry to hear this.  My heart and prayers are with you.

You always impressed me with your dedication to your father.  One thing you should not feel bad about is that devotion and what it meant to your dad.

Baron;
My most sincere sympathy during this trying time for you. My dad passed away in 1986 at the age of 72.
A day does not go by when I am thinking of him. I'd give everything I own to have him back. Cry
May you feel blessed that this man gave you life! Sad

I pray that the Lord brings comfort and peace to u and your family.
I know u are and always will be proud of your Dad. always tell people about the Hero he was while here.
God Bless u.

last month was 3 yrs since my dad passed, drafted at 17 still in high school and off into the pacific for the navy. 6-8 months later he is headed to japan for the major invasion, gets on station, his ship was a larger troop landing ship that went up onto the beach head, the bomb is dropped, they get the surrender message.
He came back 2 yrs later and finished high school, then college.
Thanks for letting me tell that short story.

Baron,

Your Dad was of the greatest generation.  Because of the stories you've told, lovingly, about him I know he was a great American, father and man.  I am also witness that he raised the same.  My Prayers at this time are for you and your family.  Your Dad is good hands, forever more.

Blessings my friend,

Woody

Dave - very, very sorry to hear about your dad.  I know you were and are very proud of him and all of us are thankful that brave men like him were here to protect our country when she needed them.

May the Lord bless and comfort you and your family during this time.  Please let us know about the memorial as I would be honored to be there.

My deepest condolences to you and your family, David.  I'm grateful for your Dad's lifelong service.  I know he will be missed by many.

Although I was only around him a couple of times, I really liked his easy smile and the twinkle in his eyes.  I also appreciate the irony of his road name.

RIP, Trouble Maker

Very sorry for your loss. I understand. My Dad in 2005, died in my arms, thought I was ready, I wasn't! He was a Marine, Iwo Jima, Guam, Marshall Islands and more. Nothing and no dollar amount could replace him. I still wish for those days when he was around, didn't know how good it was. Now my 86 year old Mom is taking all my time. (only child) Made the Hill Country Ride last year, couldn't do Inzane this year and probably no Hill Country. Very important to me to take care of her and spend all my time doing that. Day by day for me. Hope you can start the healing process soon. Firefighter
