Fun times at HCMR 2014. I road down from Seattle with the Puget Sound riders meetup group. Loose knit online crew of mostly strangers. A guy on a soft tail HD had both rear caliper bolts back all the way out and the caliper assembly jammed against the rim and took the end of the metal valve stem off including the core. Instant flat, middle of the desert 40 miles outside of Ontario Or. I just happened to have a compressor, plugging kit, ect. We could just get a valve cap on what was left of the stem, no core. I used a piece of foamy earplug and tire plug glue in the cap. Aired him WAY up and quickly screwed the cap on. Zip tied the caliper to the rear foot rest and off we went to town. Honda dealer in Ontario charged him $39 to dismount and replace the valve stem. Made it back to the waiting toyhauler in Baker City with front brakes only. Free dinner and free beer for me and Gina for the night plus new friends.  ;D

Good job! I always keep a spare valve stem with me and we had to use it on our Eastern Arizona ride.

While I was waiting for my new friend's bike repair I went ahead and picked up two and tossed them in with the tire kit.

Side note while us fellas were hanging out waiting at the bike shop, the ladies jumped on their scoots and went swimming down at the river. We missed out :'(
