before I post any factors I want some opinions from folks who have been wrenching on their Fat Gurls a while.
I will say this Tire only has 4 thousand miles on it as you can see it has a ton of tread but look how it is worn. tickedoff tickedoff

the picture really don't let you appreciate how sharp that angle of wear is Lips Sealed

Without seeing a picture, I'd bet from the way you said how it looked means it is under inflated.

I'm assuming it is CUPPED BADLY.

When I used to run MT tires, I usually run AT LEAST 45# in them.

The 1st trip I took on MGM I went through a rear tire in just under 5,000 miles.  I had it aired up to 32#.    When we replaced it in AZ, I had them add 50#, they bitched, but i told them it was my bike, my tire and that was what I wanted in it.

I backed the air down about every 800 miles, and finally settled on 45#.   My CT's I run 32# in them and they never cupped on me.

Well look old buddy, I said 45# of pressure.     I'd suggest  you get a new tire tester guage.    I'd almost say your guage is reading like 5 to 9 # high.   Also looks like ya been doin some fairly high speed freeway traveling.

This in my book, is under inflated.  Like it or not.

But I'm well aware of that I don't know what I'm talkin about.

Guess I'll go hide in the corner.   LOL.

Ok I just went and checked it with Three different gauges 1 read 41# and the other 2 Read 42# coolsmiley
Bridgestone 180/70/16
and you are right about one thing I was on the slab for about 3600 of those 4000 miles.
would you bump up the pressure and remount and get a few more miles out of it? or scrap it for a new one?

I too think it looks like it was under inflated but pressure gauge says no that is way I posed the question here.
And I would never tell you that you didnt know what you were talking about  cooldude
What gauge would you ar anyone else recommend?
(and in my other post I wasn't trying to dispute or be disrespectful when I said it wasnt under inflation)

You've got a lot of miles left in that tire.

Pump it up and ride on it.

There is nothing dangerous about that tire.

kinda what I was thinking. I did have to replace one one time because of cupping at low speed it wobbled all over the place but after 50 it smoothed out but  it had about 12k on it.

I just took a Bridgestone Exedra 150/80R/17 off the front of my Standard today, It had 7100 miles on it, The wear pattern was the same as yours, but no tread left in the middle. (dangerous) 7100 miles on a front tire? I'm used to low mileage from the rear tires, but I always got twice the mileage out of the front ones. never had that happen before. Yes it was always kept at 42 PSI.  and I have three air gauges for comparison. As with my I/S, I replaced it with a Metzeler 150/80/17 Bias ply tire.  I'm swearing off radial MC tires for a while. Will try to post pics in the morning.

Look like that was usually low psi but you keep it at 42#. I do know I never liked Bridgestone....

I assumed you ride straight road all the time? Car tire may be right for ya? I don't like car tire myself. I have mount it with car tire many times for my customers.

Try cobra m/c tire and see how it go for you.

I usually run an avon but had to have the tire replaced while on a two week trip and that is what the stealer had. I will go back with Avon but gonna give this one a few more miles.

The tire might be safe, I don't know, but I would think it would have to be a defective tire, and not you or your bike. Could be coming apart inside. I would probably contact your dealer or tire manufacture, good photos, show them!  Firefighter

I've used every brand that fits, and the bridgstone  wore out the fastest.  I would not worry much about using it for another 3-4 thousand.  I have since went to bias ply tires, they seem to last longer, and do not require the high pressures that most use on the radial tires. The Dunlop bias 180/65/16 American Elite will go 20K or so.  Dunlop bias 404F on the front lasts nearly as long. The pic is of a new elite and the one that got 20k  Hoser

That Bridegstone tire flexes like a DRAGSTER rear tire that hit the pavement running to do a 4:00 second run.     ALL WRINKLED UP.

Your tire was also running in the 3/4 to $0.90 area steadly for several miles at a LOW tire pressure on the Super Slab.   Like it or not, the pressure was TOOOOOO low.

When I put the 1st 90,000 miles on MGM I had several tires look like that till I finally started putting around 50# of air in those soft sidewall tires.

That is also about the time I went to a CT so as to be able to run a tire under 40#'s.   The least amount of mileage I got on a MT was 9,500 miles, the most I got out of a CT was 23,000 and those were Good Year tires.    I went to the triple tread when they 1st announced them.    I had real good luck with them, but, CT's are not  for everyone.   So don't run one on my suggestion.

Your tire can still be run till the thread is gone.    Just back off the top of the speedometer while on the super slab.     That is not a 90 MPH tire.    It's top should be in the 65 to 70 MPH range.

I have set here tonight going through pictures in my 50+ photo albums looking at tire pictures.   Sorry, none of them are on the internet. so I can't publish them, and will not putthem on the net just to prove a point.

As Forrest Gump would say:
“That's all I have to say about that.”

Goodnight Forrest.
