Installed the J&M CB2003DU intercom.  Put on the helmets and turned on the radio, and it works !  cooldude
While sitting still, the clarity is great and the volume is OK.  Start up the Valk, and the audio is still audible.  But when running down the road, the volume is too low to hear on the intercom.  I can still hear the CB fairly well, but the intercom is just about inaudible for both of us.  Yes, I have loud pipes (TBR6X6) and yes, LOUD music in the 60's has rendered me partially deaf,   Cheesy   but SugarPlum can hear a fly fart, and she can't hear me on her headset either.    Wink    Any clues you guys know?  I've emailed J&M tonight also.  John has been really great about getting back to me very quickly on previous emails, so I'm anticipating his response within the next several business days.  I'm open to any and all suggestions as to how to make the intercom's audio louder.  Suggestions to change out pipes on MAGNUM will be ignored!   uglystupid2

On the J&M CB2003, if you grasp the on/off knob and pull it OUT, turn it to adjust the intercom volume.  The dial on top of the unit is what adjusts the radio and accessories volume.  The CB squelch is the ribbed outer ring at the base of the on/off knob.  Do you have the instruction booklet?  If not, lemme know and I'll email you the instrucions in a pdf file.

Are you sure your intercom volume is turned up?  Push the V-Mode switch once (if the CB is off) or twice (if the CB is on) and use the volume adjust to set the level on the intercom.

Thanks Jim and Joe for your response.  John from J&M even emailed me today.  He also sent me a Pdf file of the instructions.  I guess I sounded confused regarding my problem to you two and John as well.  I have the CB volume set with the squelch where it needs to be.  I then pulled out the volume control knob and turned it to the MAX setting.  I have lower cord which have a separate volume control on them as well. They also were set to their MAX setting.  With both of these volume controls set to the MAX, we were still unable to hear eah other while riding.  I was just wondering if there's a setting for volume other than the obvious.  And as for the "V-Mode" switch you mentioned Joe, I'm assuming that's something on an IS's Honda radio, as I don't recognize that term for the J&M radio.

They do...sorta...BIG BLING!
The have the adapters to go between the CB and the helmet...way too rich for my blood.  I'll put up with the cord for now. (I use the Z cord that has the ear plug adapter in it so I can use my earphones...I can't understand squat through the helmet speakers at speed...old age I reckon... crazy2

When I spoke to them a couple of months ago they had a prototype but nothing on the market except the standard version.  Unless they have produced their prototype there is no bluetooth/cordless version released even with adapters.

Here is what I got in an email from them when I was asking some questions specific to how I wanted to setup my bike: "As of now, no Bluetooth is available for the J&M CB system.  By no Bluetooth I mean from your helmet to the CB.  The phone will be Bluetooth linked to the Zumo.  J&M is developing a Bluetooth link for their CB system.  I expect it will be available by next summer.  It will require you to use the J&M Bluetooth headset."

Please prove me wrong so I can buy a setup.

So far, we're up to around $800.00...to cut the cord...

I could be wrong, but then I'm one of those who see the need for healthcare reform too. tickedoff

I emailed the person I had talked to several months ago and he confirmed that J&M does have the bluetooth fix ready and shipping.  He and I are working through what all I need right now and I will make my purchase sometime this coming week.

Thanks F6Cruzer for waking me up and proving me dumb.  Now I am edumacated and gonna be poor.  Smiley
