Are those Mustang seats? I have to say they are kinda ugly with the trunk, but really bad looking nekkie without the trunk. Id change that wire looking luggage rack for a sissy bar and OE rack. I have always liked the IS with the trunk off but the ones I seen are mostly solo'd with the rack where the passenger pillion goes. Two up is cool, just with no backrest and those seats its not working. Is that plasi-dip on the fuel door?
Nice bike though.......keep it up

First off, sorry about the somewhat fuzzy pictures.
I spent the day yesterday installing the AirFlo stacks and removing the truck. I was not aware of what was involved, and it turned into an all day affair. First off, the exhaust tips from AirFlo are absolutely not bolt on, even after drilling the holes, which I knew was required. They would not fit at all under my bag. I had to modify both the passenger peg bracket mounting holes and raise the bags up from the mounting rails about 1/2 an inch. I raised the bags by adding several large fender washers under the 2 bolts at the bottom and elongating the holes in the rubber grommets at the top bolts, then sealing them with silicone to retain waterproofness. Once I had them mounted, I am very happy with the look though. I used Never-Cease on the pipes before sliding them on, and they went on easily asnd I was even able to spin them a little to line the holes up.
The truck removal was pretty standard I guess. I used a brake/tail light assembly I got from eBay that was advertised as for a Valkyrie, but was not at all. It was obviously from a Harley, as the mounting hardware was all SAE and it was the wrong shape. I am using it for now but will be replacing it eventually with a OEM Honda one. The luggage rack was also an eBay find, and fits nicely. The passenger seat will be coming off as soon as the fender bib I ordered arrives any day now.
I also replaced the windshield with a 10" light green tinted one from Cee Baileys, which was done in about 10 minuted and looks great on the bike I think. Due to the decrease in height, there is some increased wind buffeting, but nothing unbearable.
The turn signals had been wired as running lights by the previous owner, but he never changed the lenses to red. I modified them so they are red in the center and have a slight yellow halo that can be seen from the side. I also added blue gem inserts from an old Model A I had lying around.
The fuel filler cap and surround I painted flat black because on a sunny day the reflection was all I could see in the windshield. With the lower windshield now on, it probably isn't necessary, but I like the look anyway. It is Plastidip, so it is easily removed in the future.

The front seat is an Ultimate King BigBoy with the rain cover on, I had just finished washing it anf forgot to take the cover off for the pictures. The passenger seat is a Mustang, but is just there until I get a chance to mount the fender bib. I have a full set of mustang seats and the OEM seat with a backrest installed I may be selling, just want to put some more miles on the Ultimate before I sell the others. No sissy bar or back rest for me, I like the clean look of nothing sticking up above the seat level.

well ya, no need for a sissy bar if you are taking off the passenger seat. It will look much better with that mustang thing off. I don't think you will like the little luggage thingy you have on the back once the seat is off either.........to each his own

I like your bike. It's unique, and most of all, it's YOUR bike. Don't worry about what others think.

I have one of those rear racks with the little "bi-pod" holder-uppers that hook onto the tail-light assembly. The guy that sold it to me said it was Cobra.
I guess you installed yours, was it hard? Looks like you have to partially disassemble the taillight assembly to install it...
At first I thought the "holder-uppers" would enable it to hold extra weight, but after thinking about it, transferring weight way down to near the end of a Valkyrie rear fender might not be such a good idea...

As in my case, because the Valkyrie I found to buy that was in excellent shape was an Interstate (99 also just like this one) and they look so much better with the fairing rather than a touring windshield. If you want radio / CB that may be another reason to go Interstate.

I like the full fairing and windshield, not a Fan of the trunk. It is easily remounted for a long trip or if I ever sell it. As far as the rack, I believe the seller may have said it was cobra, don't remember. You don't have to disassemble the rail light, just remove the reflectors, it mounts right behind them. As far as wright, it says 10lbs, and all the weight is transferred to the turn signal assembly, which is rubber mounted, so you really don't want to go too heavy. The brake light, not the turn signals, is what is a Harley part.

The actual brackets aren't quick detach, but I can put it all back on in about 20 min with an extra set of hands. The wiring is however, I used a waterproof plug from a Subaru fuel pump, so when I want to put it back on, I just plug it in for the lights and speakers to work. Love the black and red, sharp looking ride you've got. Is your fender pad Mustang? Does it have their logo stamped on it? Mine does, wish I had a way to get rid of the logo, doesn't match my Ultimate seat.

It has the braided edging around it that matches my tank bib so it blends pretty good. Do a search on Supervalk and if you want to modify your trunk brackets to make them quick detachable you will find the information to make it a lot easier to take the trunk on and off. Once you do this you can actually take the trunk on and off without help. Here is a helpful link that describes this process: http://www.f6rider.com/Articles/10_minute_super_valk.htm

With only a touring windshield without fairing, it just seems to look out of balance with the rest of the bike. Plus all the conveniences that come along with the fairing.... radio, wind protection, ect... just make it that much better. JMHO.

Love the look! Actually in the process of buying a Valk. Started out looking at a standard model. Then I saw a tourer that was outfitted with a fairing. Loved it but didn't get to Pa. in time, ouch. Then I had a revelation. Find an Interstate and remove the rear bag, viola! Just have to find one now at a reasonable price and mileage. Started out looking at an ST, then a Goldwing. Then I saw the Valk. The rest is shall we say history. I want one of these bikes! Might compromise to a tourer and ad a fairing at a later date. Couple of those local (Kent,Ohio). At a fair price. Sorry to ramble. Your bike looks great. Actually one like yours in Pa. that I may go look at. '99 IS with 47k on her. $7K is what he wants.

Mines a 99 and had about 46k on the clock. I paid 6,700, so that seems about right. The guy had extra seats, shop manual and a bunch of extra stuff as well, so I think I got a pretty good deal. Got lucky, he was in the next town over, found it on craigslist.

If the bike is in good condition in person and has been taken care of, that sounds like a reasonable price. Also if it has some nice extras that is a plus, because a lot of these Valk accessories are pretty high dollar when you can find them. Mine is a 2000 model I bought over 2 years ago and it only had 23K miles on it with some nice extras, so I paid more for it than that, but it was well worth it!

Beautiful bike, DL! Gent selling the IS is not original owner. He's the 2nd plus has a hitch and trailer, I personally don't like those signs. But he does have some extras as well as ad ons. He returned my call from Sturgis. He has owned for 2 or 3 yrs. I cant remember. Probably will buy if I can get him to $6500.00. I love the color and matching fairing. Gotta wait for him to get home from Sturgis. Valk closer to home, '98 Tourer w/41k on her. very nice shape, single owner. $4500. I like the price, not crazy about miles. Color I like. Black standard w/31k I might be able to get for $4k. Don't really want black. Talk about being on the fence!

In my opinion the mileage on those is nothing to be concerned with. The thing is to get one that's been taken care of and not just left to sit. Also don't settle on a color you don't want, you'll kick yourself everytime you see a color that you do like
