Today I finished assembling/installing the intake manifold I made and mounting the carb. The carb was a challenge, I couldn't mount it then feed the manifold in. So removed the carb and mounted the manifold first. But, I needed baby sized hands with 14" fingers to start the front mounting nut after the manifold was in place. The washer kept falling off the nut and I couldn't get my hands in there to hold things in place. And once in the general area of the stud on the carb, I couldn't hold the nut and turn it...washer slipped off again. Finally added a dab of "Make a gasket" RTV to the nut, pressed the washer on it let it sit for a few minutes. That worked, was able to hold the nut in place with a screwdriver and turn it with a couple fingers to get it started. Once on, turned easy so all ended up fine. As for the starter, it turns the engine over just fine, I don't hear any metallic noises. Yet! Since I lubed the cylinders pretty good I assume it will smoke like crazy when/if it starts.

Here's where I am at the moment, was going to mount the exhause headers but the old hip told me I had been up/down a few thousand times too many already this afternoon.

Right side, notice the fuel pump still needs some attention. I don't plan to hook up the tank, just use an external tank and run directly to the pump.

Left side, notice the burned connector, that's off the regulator, a common problem with the early Wings. The three yellow wires hanging next to it I cut out of the connector and will wire directly to the harness. I could also wire regulator directly to the generator, leaving out the short 15" of wire between the connections.

The little gold doodad I'm pointing to is the idle cutoff. That, and on the opposite side is the elec. choke, needs a 12vdc source, a simple task. In the upper rt. hand corner you can see a small white plastic Tee laying on the frame for now. The side showing has a small hose going to a vacuum port on #4 as soon as I can pick up some new hose. The other side of the Tee is blocked off and used for tuning, the bottom leg of the Tee goes to the ICM mounted a few inches closer toward the neck.

Last but not least, Eddie's lovely tank off a Valkyrie. Grin I needed to mount the tank to see if there's enough room for a breather on top of the carb...which there is. Probably just get a small 4" wide unit.

Yup, that frame and engine look fantastic. Far cry from what she was when you adopted her.
Nice work cooldude

Looks great!  I am looking forward to the final reveal, my son has been talking about getting an older wing to bob. They look really good when finished as a bobber or a classic naked wing.
Keep up the great work.

John that sure looks a lot different than a few months ago. I'm anxious to hear her run.
