Been calling or visiting all the auto parts supply houses and nobody seems to carry DPR8EA9 by NGK. Need a new set for the 1200, I've hit five different shops so far. Advance used to be the place where I got them in the past and never had to order them. Now I do! Anybody else have that trouble?

Geez, I ain't THAT old, although the first engine I ever tore down was a 1927 Model T truck engine. My dad couldn't believe I actually got it running.

Pappy: Yes it was but was getting some popping on the right side. Didn't act like a valve when checking with a piece of paper against the exhaust. Just figured I'd try the simple stuff first, but did notice one plug on that side seemed more wet than the other. If I crack the throttle open real quick it responds immediately and doesn't seem to miss a beat at high RPM. The engine hadn't run in quite a few years so might just need to get rings loosened up in the one cylinder.

Yep.....would wait on the plugs. Switch plugs and see if the issue follows the plug or not.

Had to stop at Carquest for something else so while there asked one of the GUYS about the plugs. Yeah, we have them and about five steps behind him picked them off the shelf. So had to ask who was the gal I talked to yesterday that told me they didn't carry motorcycle plugs. He pointed to this young chickie then called her over and introduced her. Then suggested I ask her again so I did. Found out she entered the wrong letters, I had given her the DPR prefix and she questioned me so I had repeated it by saying: Delta, Papa, Romeo 8 Easy, Alpha, 9. Her answer yesterday was; "I'm sorry sir but we don't carry spark plugs with names on them like that. We only carry Champion, etc....." Today, would you believe I got the same answer, the guy just gave me that "deer in the headlight" look and muttered "it's going to be a looong day." I just smiled at her and left. Sure hope someone reminds her to tie her shoes in the morning.  uglystupid2

Reminds me of what I did several months ago, went into Autozone and got a thermostat for a vw rabbit, gasket for a volvo thermostat and a couple other parts oil filter etc. When the girl was ringing the parts up, said you must be working on a lot of cars. I said nope, all the parts are for a Valkyrie motorcycle. I will never forget the confused look she had.

Oh wow, there are some gender-biased comments going on here. Todd read this and wanted to express his agreement about young women working behind the counter at the auto parts stores...nice to look at but just don't know their muffler bearings from the canooter valve. That being said, he had me--a woman--type this for him because he "doesn't like computers."  Go figure.  Grin

Hey, miss seeing all you. Can't make Wild Turkey ride next week but to bear the heat to do the next one.

Well, since we are in the subject......

My son came home the other night and said "DAD, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS"

He went to McDonalds drive thru and asked for a Cheesburger Only Ketchup.
Got his order and when he opened his burger, it was two buns, ketchup and cheese, NO BEEF PATTY  tickedoff uglystupid2
He walked in and asked for the manager, showed him what he had gotten and the manager just shook his head, asked the person preparing the meals and he/she (don't know for sure but we can call her a she  Grin) said "that is what he asked for".  2funny
My son got his Cheesburger the way ity was supposed to be and went on his way.
If I was the manager, I would have comped his meal just for the aggravation and embarrassment

Yes Eddie, they do, and I've had the good fortune to work with many of them in the past as well as deal with them as a customer. Back in the 60's right out of the service I worked for Xerox in Chicago. Probably our best service rep was a young girl, I used to love going with her on a large job and watch the clients. They would be absolutely amazed at how she worked and I'd just chuckle over it. In the case of the young gal at Carquest, my discussion with her on the phone was much more involved and longer than my post would indicate. I essentially gave her a chance to have a learning experience but she simply wouldn't have any part of it. In her mind she was right, I was wrong and didn't know what I was talking about. When I was there in person, she exhibited the same attitude. That kind of worker doesn't need to be working with the public regardless of gender.
