Doing some close examining of the tires on my 98 Tourer I noticed that the front tire has begun cracking down in the tread grooves so it's time I think to get it replaced. My Question is what brand tires are you guys getting the best mileage out of?
Right now the Bike is has Avon Venom and I've ehard thats about as good as they get but it's been yrs since I owned a bike so I'm out of the loop. Next Question is what online source has the best prices?

I run Metzler front & DS rear.

I like the wider foot print of the Metz over the others,

Metz ME880's all round but DS soon. They have a good compound and stick well in all conditions IMO, but wear too fast on the rear.

10-04 on the short life in the rear if you run Honda's recommended pressure.

When I run a bike rear tire I had them in the 45-50 PSI range, in an effort to keep them from cupping.

Thanks guys for the help and the links. This board rocks. One last question on the subject... I see "DS" is this a brand or style? I know I'm clueless (dumb) which ever you wish to call it I can take it  Smiley

Any tire from a reputable manufacturer is a good tire.

All riders have their own preferences but you will have just as many for each brand of tie.

Price of the tire is not a good measure of quality, ever!

Getting a tire locally will be a good thing if you don't ride much and you may get it mounted for free. Not the mechanical work I would think.   (removing and replacing the wheel)

Age of the tire is seemed important by many riders so if you can identify the age it would have some bearing on your decision process I would suspect.  Older tire are not as good as newer tires.

DS = Dark Side meaning they run a car tire on the rear.

I have run Duflop Elite 3, Avon Cobra & Venom on the front as well as Elite 3 and Cobra on the rear. I prefer the Avon Venom front with a Dark Side rear for the best handling my Valk has ever had. Bike rears wear out way too quick and dont handle nearly as well as a DS rear. The Avon Venom is a much quieter tire on the front than the older Cobra for those that had an issue with that aspect.
