Its that time of year again. Time to get together and raise bunches of monies for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation via RFK. It will be at TMS again on Oct 12. I'm sure "someone" will post more details shortly. For those who have never been, a typical day is like this: Arrive way to early, get registered, get some free coffee and donuts, chat around while looking at all the bikes, take a 30min to 1 hour ride (which includes riding on the track (at least it did last year)), get a sack lunch, listen to the amazing stories from the Stars of the show, and win a new motorcycle (at least someone will)! Online registration is now open and I have created a Team page for VRCC. This year there’s no registration fee to participate, but it’s more than a free ride. We encourage a minimum donation of $40 per motorcycle to help cure the kids. If you register online and raise at least $100 by noon Eastern on the Friday before your event, you’ll also get an extra ticket for our prize drawings! Here is the link to the Team page: http://pbtf.convio.net/site/TR/2014RideforKids/General?team_id=5581&pg=team&fr_id=1760#.U_LCM2Oa_pY

Looking forward to getting on that track again and hearing from the kids. Local celebrity band will also be playing. Can't spoil the surprise.
Could use some more volunteers for the day of the ride, so please message me or post here if you're willing to give the kids a little help. Volunteers can still register and ride. That's what I do and lots of other VRCC members, including some who ride into DFW just for the event and dinner the night before.
See you there!

Time to get registered at the link BuzzKill put above. Register and raise at least $100 in donations from folks before that weekend and you have a chance to win a new motorcycle. That's only $20 from 4 people if you kick in $20 with it and you can have them donate from anywhere in the world with the online tool. Also, please plan on volunteering. VRCC has a great history of volunteering to help at this event and we want to keep it going. You can still ride as the volunteer stuff is almost all done before we leave for the ride. We'll get more info on volunteer training out soon. There will be short training sessions on Thursday, Oct 9 and Sat Oct 11 and you only need to attend one. Free t-shirt for volunteers and everlasting gratitude. One more thing. Maxim is holding a dinner and auction again this year to help these kids. It will be Wed, Oct 8 and you can check their site or sign up for their emails to get more info http://www.maximhonda.net/ People come from all over the metromess for this and get things from restaurant gift cards to vacations and bike gear. Lots of fun.

Less than one month away. Haven't seen any activity here or on the VRCC Team Fundraising Page. Who is planning on going? Liz and I are planning on volunteering. Anyone else?

At a minimum, I will attend. If I can manage to attend one of the training sessions, I'd like to volunteer.

Gary, this is when I like to leave on Saturday for a daylong ride to DFW, then the R4K's on Sunday. My wife is scheduled for back surgery on the 29th, Sept. I'll have to see how she's progressing at that time. I won't leave her if she is not progressing or feeling well enough where she wouldn't need my help.

If you are riding and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

Volunteering again. I still have my volunteer T-shirt so don't need a new one.

Eli, totally understand. Take care of the Mrs. That's number one. We'll lift her up in our prayers.

Great day for a ride. There were about 150 bikes. Thanks to the Task Force, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters. The kids seemed to have a great time. They were singing with the band as we were leaving. VRCC came in 5th in club fundraising, but more importantly, all together the total fundraing came to $121,250 to help find a cure. Thanks again to all who participated in any way and hope to see everyone there next year!

Agree with Buzzkill. Great seeing those who made it out. Lots of sunshine. Big smiles on those kids' faces, including several new children/families who had never attended a Ride for Kids event. Country riding without stop signs. Laps on the track at TMS. Good music from Randy James and Triple Lindy, who ended up rocking it with some of the kids at the very end. Priceless. If you missed it, plan for it next year. It will be the 2nd Sunday in October again and registration starts in about a month. Thanks for coming out to support these sick kids and their families!
