Difference in 97 Carburators

The carbs for a 97 Valk use different Jet Needles and Vacuum Pistons than 98 and lator.
Are the Vacuum Pistons interchangeable between 97 carbs and 98 and later carbs?
What is the difference?
Will 98 and later Jet Needles work with 97 Vacuum Pistons?

I didn't realize the pistons were different. I thought it was just the needles.
Maybe between the two that is the power increase reported to be in the '97s.
But, I think the '97 numbers have been superseded and not available.

It appears to be just the 97 needles that are not available.
For the people that have a 97 Valk:
Can they use the 98 and later needles with the existing Vacuum Piston?
Can they replace a defective 97 Vacuum Piston with a 98 and later and will it work with the 97 carb body?
