I tell you going from a Goldwing to a Valk is weird. I thought most do it in reverse.
I fell in love with this Valk so much, I parked my wing with Cover on it now.
Ok so after much paranoia I read were some turn their gas petcock off. I decided to do this.
Wanted to go for a ride last night, so I fired up the Valk, and rode off.
I could not believe how far I got before knowing I had the petcock off.
Nearly 5 miles and a Blast up to 85mph and steady a bit. Then I get on freeway and feel the surge, quickly remember I had petcock off.
I was amazed at how far I could go with no gas on.
Is this a sign that my petcock leaks a tiny amount of fuel into the lines?
Is the length of the ride because my bike is stock California emissions ? what is different? the jets? (besides purge canister)

I can go "a ways", don't know how far... I don't think a Valkyrie will run on "a tiny amount" of gas... -Mike

You've got a problem. Mine won't go over 1 mile. I am surprised to hear 2 miles out of Ferris. I go about 1 mile at ~35 mph, and I feel the slow loss of power. If you're going up to 85 for 5 miles, and don't know it's off until you hit a steady high speed, I think you have a slow(ish) leak in your petcock. Enough to keep 'er fed at lower speeds or for a little while, but not at sustained high speed. Turn the petcock off, then pull the fuel line. Does it drip? Try this a few different days, just in case it's intermittent (gunk in the valve?). Try riding with it off a few times, and see if you still get the 5 mile range.

Now that you bought a bike with soul it's time to sell the Wing.

I think you have a problem. After a 2 minute warm up, I can't get more that a block before it starts to sputter.

Me too... After warm up. It’s down the road for a very short trip and it's sputtering. I even almost canceled a ride once before. I had done some work on the bike in the Valk House and had started it, and ran it a few times during that process. Backed it out the morning of the ride, and it started but was running very rough. Then it died and would not start... Hopped in the pickup and headed down the road to meet the group at the meeting point. Got about a mile down the road, and realized that I had not turned the fuel on. Turned around and came home. Turned the fuel on, and she cranked right up. Was a little late to the meeting point, but I know now the valve is in good shape... Wife said I can’t stop thinking about a problem till it’s done. Guess that kept me on that ride that day…

1.5 miles on a modest putt for me. I live that far from the gas pump. By the time I hit the drive way its gasping for fuel. Ymmv,
