Because of my abnormal tyre wear, (now virtually confirmed as normal tyre wear), I am now looking for a rear tyre.

Above is the only options available to me here.

What would YOUR choice be?

I'm not looking for the ins and outs of your choice, because that would only start a 'war'.

Thanks.

Phil.

I got my tyres. Decided to change the front as well.
Came down to price eventually. Doesn't everything these days?
I really wanted a set of Avon Cobras, but managed to get a good deal on a set of Bridgestones.
And saved a few €'s in the process, which gave me a chance to get these as well http://www.motorcycleanchor.com/tire_valves/index.htm
Quick question - I'm sure some of you will have these fitted already, so will I have to remove that T bar that holds the stock valve support?
The wheels will be coming off during the week, ready for the fitter at the weekend.

The plastic holder? Yup, remove it. If you speak from the little alum bar, which holds the plastic piece...if you want the valve pointing to the higher side (bike on kickstand), i guess, it´s better to remove it. Should be a easy job with a dremel or a similar tool.

According to the website, the post must be removed on a Goldwing, so I would assume it would be the same on the Valkyrie.

Check out this thread: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,7536.0.html

Some of the other stem upgrades are cheaper, but I have these on both Valks.  To aim them to the high side (where you want them, esp for rear wheel on a bagger), you must dremel off the tabs on the wheels which are used to hold the OE stem elbows.  No big deal to cut them off, you'll never be going back to the shoddy OE stems again anyway.  This is a lifetime upgrade.  They work well with a 45 degree electronic pressure gauge. . . . .

Is this really necessary. I had my valve stem replaed with the patchboys. I didn't remove that old tab.

It is not necessary with the patchboy valve stem, but is necessary with the stem in Chippy01's link (the valve stem at motorcycleanchor).
