Author Topic: Fuel Injection?  (Read 2143 times)

I read a post by Daniel Meyer in the "dropping my gearing" topic where he mentions changing to fuel injection. I didn't want to hijack that thread. Has anyone done that with a Valk? Either changing the carbs out for fuel injection or switching to a Goldwing carb setup? I've only a few weeks ago sold what is most likely my last hot rod Kawi and got a 00 I/S. I've looked at these for years and it's everything I'd hoped and more...... trite but true.

Viking Motorcycle (now out of business) built 2 Valks that I know of with FI. My rememberer thinks that 6 injectors from some GM V6 engine was used. Of course a new manifold had to be machined. Not cheap and I have no idea how they were programmed.

It's not something I'd expect to be able to do on a valk successfully...but it is the solution...it's why the 1800 wing runs circles around us mileage wise...

I know this may sound stupid, but, how about adapting the FI from the 1800 wing? Any possibilities there?

JeffK in Florida would be the resident expert on blown and injected Valks. His has both, his engineering on the injection set-up.

How funny, we were having the exact same conversation at breakfast. How hard would it be ot put an 1800 off awing on a VALK

I was wondering if the Rune Motor would be a direct fit to our Valks

Anything is possible. But it would be a huge project.

To re-steer this thread a bit......  Has anyone tried putting the carb set-up from a 1500 Wing on a Valk? I doubt if it would be a good idea considering the difference in cams, but I'm just curious.

What possible benefit could you hope for, besides ugly?
