The 2014 Cannonball Run starts off Friday September 5th at Daytona Beach at 2700 N
Atlantic Ave on the beach. The bikes can not be any newer than 1936. They will be on display
at 8:30 am and get the green flag at 10:00 on the way to Tacoma Washington. First stop
is in Lake City. Pappy and I will be hooking up and riding there Friday am. just to take a look
at these. There should be over 100 vintage bikes of all kinds. Anyone want to meet up let
us know. Hope to see ya there. Should be a hoot.   Cheesy   Cheesy   Cheesy

Sounds good to me DD maybe Pappy will chime in and put his $.0000002 in, not
that it matters any. he he   Love ya Paps    Roll Eyes  Need to meet early as I think there will
a lot of people there. These riders come from all over the world to do this, male and female.
Sounds like a plan to me. Hope to see you there.

Doesn't matter to me.
We have a good place for breakfast over here as well.
Looked up where Ultimate Omelet is and that is close to where the bikes will be.
Long as I have coffee before lighting the fire I will be fine. Will leave breakfast plans to you and BB.

We are thinking about meeting them at Interstate Cycles in Lake City Friday afternoon.  Should be a few stories told there.

DD - Sorry about that. Didn't mean that you should drive to Eustis.
The decision on whether we eat here or there or don't eat can be Billy's. Makes no diff to me.

I'd love to do this ride, but the walking involved after arriving is something I can't handle just yet. Please take some pics for the rest of us.  cooldude

WOW what a great morning and worth getting up & out early.  the bikes were so neat.   seen billy & pappy, but got separated.  don't know who to use the picture thing, but anyone on facebook with me will see them & videos.
felt really bad for the ones that broke down before they got to leave.   found out they went around the track and most of them have been there all week.  they change starting places every year.
there was drones flying around and will be following to TN.   he said it's on www.reservationracing.com   haven't check it yet, hope it's right and works.
thanks for posting about this, it was great.

DD ; The link works great.   Cheesy  What a great time, about wore me out just looking at bikes and talking to the riders. Found out it cost $2,500 and food and hotels are on them.(The riders)
The best sounding bikes were the inline fours, from around 1918 and up. What a hoot!
Wow I would love to do this. Pics will be coming from someone much smarter than I.
Thanks Pappy.    cooldude

Looking forward to some pics, I came across these guys in Starke on 301 about 2;15 p.m. this afternoon, the sky was not pretty, and i had come through some heavy down pours further south. Very neat looking rides i got a quick glimpse at.

We just got back in from meeting them in Lake City at Interstate Honda.  The dealership was providing the supper meal as I understand it.  They had tables set up for the riders to eat.  We took quite a few pictures, will try to get them at least on Photobucket soon.  I liked the 4 cylinder Henderson's the most personally.  There were 11 bikes that broke down today one was at mile 1 out of Daytona.  I asked one of the guys about repairs and spare parts etc.  He said that the bikes that break down have to be picked up and put on the trailer and repaired that night.  He also so some of the trucks have pretty much a complete machine shop on board.

What a neat link to the event. Pretty amazing seeing bikes that old,  much less them competing in a race across America. Thanks for sharing the link and any eventual pictures.

I would bet that 100 riders of old motorcycles in Lake City are watching the Weather Channel this morning.  Wishing they were there on a different day.  Flooding predicted in Columbia County.  I wonder if those old magneto driven bikes are water proof?  Smiley

I left home at 4 AM this morning to see the bikes and watch them pull out. It took me 3 hours to get from Inverness to Lake City, visibility was almost zero with the rain and dark. It wasn't raining when I left home or I'd have been in the truck.

Got to Lake City and milled around in the rain looking for bikes but didn't see many. After talking to some of the riders, I learned that because of the severity of the rain, the plan was to trailer to Albany, GA and start from there.

The good thing is that my new Frog Toggs really work great and I got in a 240 mile ride and was home for lunch.
